Rochester Numismatic Association - Medals (original) (raw)
One of the RNA's longest-running traditions is our series of presidential medals. Each RNA president since 1912 has been honored with a portrait medal. Many club members (and some non-members) have assembled extensive collections of these medals.
Presidential medals are traditionally struck in bronze, but examples have also been struck in everything from silver to gold to lead. A unique pewter version of each medal is struck as well; it's given to the winner of a drawing at the presidential banquet.
In addition to the annual presidential portrait medals, the club has also commissioned several other medals to commemorate such events as the 25th anniversary of the RNA's annual coin show, the John Jay Pittman memorial medal, as well as several others.
