Archives
The Puke Ariki archive collection contains the papers, journals, letters (documents) of individuals and families, historic records from businesses and organisations and societies within the Taranaki region.
The collection includes a wide range of newspapers including The Taranaki Herald, The Daily News, The Kaponga Courier, The Opunake Times, The Stratford Evening Post, The Stratford Press and Taranaki Punch.
Other items include: taped oral histories, maps and architectural plans.
You can browse the collection using the search function below and access to the collection is available through the Taranaki Research Centre between the hours 10.00am-4.00pm, Monday to Sunday. Generally an appointment is not required, but it is recommended that you ring or email us ahead, especially if you are visiting from out of Taranaki. If you would like access out of these hours please contact us to make an appointment.
Artefacts
The artefact collection captures a slice of Taranaki's history and contains a wide ranging selection of treasures. More than 1500 artefacts are available to browse through including selections from the social history, decorative arts, natural sciences, militaria, and textile collection. More artefacts from the collection are regularly being added to the database.

This database contains images of New Plymouth and Taranaki from Puke Ariki's Photograph and Fine Arts collections. This is a small selection from the collection and we will continue to add images.
