Amaury was born in France and started with SR Colmar and Strasbourg before moving to Werder Bremen in 2005.
He is a ball-playing central midfielder who can operate in the centre or on the right.
He was a regular at youth levels for Werder Bremen and his one senior appearance for the Bundesliga club came against Celta Vigo in the UEFA Cup back in 2007.
Amaury has played for France's Under-18 team, however in 2007 he elected to train with Portugal and has since represented their Under-21 side.
MY YEAR
January
Amaury featured in the squads for the home matches against both Plymouth and Bolton but did not make it onto the pitch. While still searching for his Arsenal debut, the Portugal Under-21 international is an ever-present in Neil Banfield�s reserve team.
December
There was another Carling Cup appearance for Amaury during December but the ex-Werder Bremen midfielder is still looking for his first start for the Gunners.
October
October saw Amaury make his first appearances in Arsenal red. The Portugal Under-21 international played in the two reserve fixtures against Stoke City and West Ham as he continues his comeback from injury.
