History (original) (raw)
Once inundated with swamps and winding canals, Bangkok has been transformed into a modern concrete jungle.
Despite the filling of canals and the construction of condos and skyscrapers at its footsteps, the Lake House, along with its resident Burmese turtle, is a reminder of Bangkok’s yesteryear.
Over the past fifty years, the Lake House has been the home to many well-known writers, artists and the meeting place for politicians from South East Asia. Past residents at the Lake House have included
William Warren and Tiziano Terzani.
