GEN-SNiP - SNP Extractor (original) (raw)
GEN-SNiP finds polymorphisms present in test DNA sequences with respect to a standard reference sequence. The output lists substitutions, insertions and deletions.
The default reference is the revised Cambridge Reference Sequence (rCRS) for the human mitochondrial genome. To find polymorphisms in full length human mitochondrial DNA, paste the sequence in the right-hand box and click Run GEN-SNiP. You can run GEN-SNiP on a test mitochondrial genome by clicking Run with default sequence.
GEN-SNiP can also be run using a user-supplied reference sequence:
- enter the new reference sequence in the left-hand box, either by pasting it in or by uploading it from your computer
- toggle the Select reference sequence from rCRS to
- click the Run button.
GEN-SNiP accepts sequence(s) in fasta format format.
For more than one test sequence, the results will be sent to the user by email. You will be asked for your email address after the test sequences have been uploaded.
