GOV. PERDICES ALIVE; DAUGHTER APPEALS TO PUBLIC TO STOP CIRCULATING FALSE TEXT MESSAGES

Negros Oriental Gov. Agustin Perdices is alive and undergoing eye surgery, as well as getting medical treatment in Manila for hypertension and diabetes, according to his youngest daughter, Katrina. “He is very much alive, although a bit weak. However, he is getting stronger each day,” said Katrina, who promised to bring back the governor to Negros Oriental once he is fit to return to work. The clarification comes amid rumors rapidly spreading through text messaging that the governor had died. Some text messages even asked to offer prayers for the eternal repose of the soul of Perdices. Reports that Gov. Perdices had died started late Thursday and was spreading like wildfire by Friday.

The “police dogs” are two of seven canines assigned to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Region 7 and are based in Mactan Island in Cebu, said Animal Keeper 2 Lito Ermac, chief of the PDEA-7 K-9 group.
