A Message from Joanna

I am honored to announce my exploratory campaign for Mayor of San Francisco.

With the Bay Area ranking second only to Detroit in job losses last year, residents and businesses alike are feeling the pain. For San Francisco's next Mayor, job creation must be job one.

I'm a progressive independent. I'm not part of the City Hall crowd, and I intend to put jobs and schools at the top of my agenda. I spent the last two decades building a leading venture capital firm. We have supported over 60 Bay Area businesses and generated thousands of good jobs in the innovation economy. We did it by focusing on practical ideas where the cutting edge meets common sense. I've taken the same approach as a mother, mentor, educator, and advocate for public school reform.

I promise one thing from the outset: This is going to be a campaign rooted in the neighborhoods. It's going to be a campaign of ideas — your ideas and mine. Over the next few months I'm going to be reaching out — and listening — in every neighborhood and every community of San Francisco.
