For the very first time, national indoor lacrosse teams convened in a “new lacrosse” country, although lacrosse has been played in the Czech Republic since 1980s. This is a great opportunity to spread lacrosse awareness both in the Czech Republic and Europe.

By Andy McNamara – The 3rd FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championships is officially in the books and the top three nations stay the same as the previous two tournaments. Prague, Czech Republic played the role of host exceptionally well and showcased the country’s passion for box lacrosse. Countless volunteer man hours went into pulling together the WILC and their efforts should be commended. more

Team USA forward Casey Powell has been named the Most Valuable Player of the 2011 FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championships in Prague. Powell was also named to the All-World Team as he led the Americans’ offense with 16 goals and 15 assists in five games. more

28.5.2011 WILC Semifinals: Canada Runs Away from U.S. 15-10

Prague – In National Lacrosse League circles Rhys Duch is known as “The Clutch” for his dramatic goals for the Washington Stealth. The round-robin portion of the 2011 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship (WILC) is over and, to no one's surprise, Canada has looked nothing short of unstoppable. This collection of athletes could quite possibly be the most impressive ever assembled for box lacrosse (of course, the Iroquois Nationals and the United States will still have something to say about that). more

27.5.2011 Host Czech Republic stuns England 12-7 for spot in semi-finals vs. Iroquois Nationals

The Czech Republic pulled off a 12-7 upset victory over England in Thursday’s second quarter-final match-up, the victory getting them into tomorrow’s WILC semi-final against the Iroquois Nationals (1PM ET). more

What a great day in Prague. It was the kind of experience I had been waiting for since I arrived on Saturday. With no games on the schedule, Team USA embarked on a 30-minute drive to practice at Radotin, which is an outdoor box facility. more

Team USA dismantled Australia 28-2 in their quarter-final clash earlier this morning, the win sending them into Friday’s (10AM ET) semi-final against WILC favourites Canada, a country they’ve never beaten at the tournament. more

25.5.2011 Playoff Time at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships

By Andy McNamara - The round robin of the third2011 FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championships(WILC) went pretty much as expected. The big three are in the same positions as in 2007, however, the host Czech Republic look much stronger and could make some noise when the playoff rounds begin Thursday. The qualifiers wrapped up Tuesday evening in Prague and a rowdy HC Slavia Praha Arena went home happy as the Czech’s advance to the quarter finals following a dominant outing over Ireland. more

McNamara is the play-by-play commentator for the Toronto Rock of the National Lacrosse League, as well as being an accomplished broadcaster/sports writer for basketball, hockey, baseball, football, and vollebyall on television and radio in the Toronto area. more

4.3.2011 The World Indoor Lacrosse Championship will be held in Eden Arena in Prague

(pch/ps) - The Organizing Committee has informed that the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship to be held in Prague from May 21st to May 28th would change the venue to the Eden Arena. A little more humble conditions there would not offer as much comfort for the players but it certainly is a positive change for the spectators. The smaller arena and smaller playing field will undoubtedly offer more intensive experience of indoor lacrosse. more

2.3.2011 Jim Veltman named head coach of the Team Czech

(ps) - The Czech Lacrosse Union officially announced that Jim Veltman has been named head coach of the 2011 Czech National Indoor Lacrosse Team that will be participating at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship to be held in May 2011 in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. Veltman served recently as head coach of the Ajax-Pickering Rock last summer during the Major Series Lacrosse season in Ontario. more

Less than 24 hours after Insider was made aware of a recent letter distributed by the World Indoor Lacrosse Championship Organizing Committee, the group claiming that no national teams had met their November 30th entry fee deadline, Team USA and now also Team Canada have both confirmed that required fees have in fact been paid, both box lacrosse powers expecting to be in Prague and competing at the international tournament come May 2011. more

In the sixth match of the series they defeated New Westminster Salmonbellies 15 - 9 and gained the most important fourth victory.
