Five schools each had three players honored with the announcement of the 2009 NSCAA/adidas Women’s College Scholar All-America Team. Two of those teams, Stanford University and Lee University, ended their seasons in their respective division’s championship match.
Joining the Cardinal and the Flames with a trio of selections were Portland in the University Division and Trinity University of Texas and the University of West Florida in the College Division. Twelve other schools had two players named to the team, which was comprised of 78 players in either the University (NCAA Division I) or College (all other levels) Division.
Twelve players earned a repeat appearance on the squad, led by twin sisters Linn and Christiane Christensen (Lee/Oslo, Norway), who helped power Lee to back-to-back NAIA national championships.
To be nominated for consideration, student-athletes must have at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) throughout their career; start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team; be nominated by an institution that is a current NSCAA College Services member; be a junior or above in academic standing at the current institution and either be in their second year at the current school if a transfer student.
