Check-in Procedures
Allegro is the first train with customs control en route. Customs control is conducted onboard the train, so passengers must have a valid passport and visa when crossing the Russian-Finland border.
Customs control takes place as the train travels between St. Petersburg and Vyborg. This generally takes about one hour. Russian border guards and customs are in the buffet car, which is situated in the centre of the train. They move towards head and end of the train respectively. If passengers are disembarking in Vyborg, they go through customs and passport control at Vyborg Railway Station. Finnish border guards check passes on the section between Vainikkala and Kouvola.
Prior to the border control in Russia, all passengers who are not citizens of the Russian Federation must complete a migration card and inbound customs declaration form. Documents are available on the train. Upon arrival in Finland and before passports are checked, passengers should complete the U-Card, except for those citizens who do not require visas.
