David Levien was born in New York and attended University of Michigan. After graduating, he spent three years in Los Angeles working in the film business, and began writing screenplays and fiction.
As a screenwriter, David’s feature films, written with life-long friend Brian Koppelman, include:

- OCEAN’S THIRTEEN
- THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE
As directors, the duo of Levien and Koppelman have helmed:

- INTERVIEW WITH THE ASSASSIN
- THE ILLUSIONIST
- THE LUCKY ONES
The pair also created the television series TILT.
As a novelist, Levien has published:

- CITY OF THE SUN
- WHERE THE DEAD LAY
And the third Frank Behr novel, THIRTEEN MILLION DOLLAR POP.
