The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 is contested by the 10 Full Members of the International Cricket Council (ICC), together with four Associate and Affiliate Members that qualify through the ICC Cricket World Cup qualifying program.
This qualifying program includes:
- Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Championship 2011-2013
- Pepsi ICC World Cricket League and
- ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2014. The Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Championship 2011-2013 will produce the first two qualifying teams. Ireland secured first place in July and the other qualifier will be known by October as the final rounds of matches are played.
The bottom six teams from the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Championship will have a second chance to qualify for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 when they participate in the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2014. The Qualifier will also be contested by Hong Kong, Papua New Guinea, Nepal and Uganda, who have progressed through the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Divisions.
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) will host the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier from 13 January to 1 February in 2014, which will be played at seven venues throughout New Zealand, namely: Hamilton, Mt Maunganui and New Plymouth in the North Island, and Christchurch, Lincoln, Rangiora and Queenstown in the South Island. A total of 34 matches will be played in the tournament.
According to the format of the tournament, the 10 teams will be equally divided into two groups with the top three sides from each group progressing to the Super Six stage. The top two sides from the Super Six stage will not only reach the final but will also qualify for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 to complete the 14-team tally.
