More capacity for Hispasat’s American market

Amazonas-2 was ordered in 2007 in order to increase the capacity offered by Hispasat on their American position to meet growing market demand. It provides a full range of telecommunications services to Brazil, and North and South America from the 61° W orbital position in geostationary orbit.

The second Eurostar E3000 satellite for long-standing customer Hispasat, Amazonas-2 is equipped with a payload of 64 active transponders (54 in Ku-band and 10 in C-band). The spacecraft was launched in November 2009 from Kourou by Ariane 5. Its mass at launch was 5,400kg and it has a payload power of 12kW.
