Preveli beach famous for its natural palm forest which grows nearby. As I know it’s only one natural palm forest in Europe. So during the preveli beach visiting you can do both things – make a little trip to the real jungle in Europe and spend some time on the beach.
Don’t worry about the hostile animals inside the palm forest. Despite the fact that the forest is the real jungle there is a little chance for you to face them.
Forest grows in the canyon with mountain river which has fast current. Because of it the water temperature near preveli beach is cooler in comparison with others Crete’s beaches. But it quite suits for swimming.
Preveli beach is located on the south coast of Crete near the city of Rethymno. (about 30 kilometers from the city’s center)
