Honavar or Honnavar (Kannada: ಹೊನ್ನಾವರ) is a port town in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, India. The town is the headquarters of Honnavar taluk. The Town is located in Uttarkannada District. 90 km away from District Head Quarter ,Honnavar lies on the coast of the Arabian Sea and on the banks of the river Sharavati, forming an estuary. It lies midway between Panaji and Mangalore. Some of the important places around Honavar include the towns of Murudeshwara and Idagunji, Apsarkonda places of religious importance and Karikanamma, a scenic mountain that has the breathtaking view of the Arabian Sea..The Town Panchayet Honnavar has boundary of 9.38 Sq.km with 18 wards. The council Constituted of 18 elected members.Presently SWM activities in the Town are Carried by the ULB.

The Computerised Applications Under the Project KMRP are Available in TP Honnavar for the benefit of the Citizens of the Town.

• Office Website: All the Information related to Town Panchayat Honnavar are available in the official website www.honnavaratown.gov.in The site is made available by Municipal Reforms Cell to achieve transperency in the Administrationof the Town**.** The information Available in the website are Staff Details, Council Details, Council Proceedings, PDL, RTI , Water Supply, SWM, Statistical information, Financial details, Work Details etc.
• Birth & Death Registration: From 1980 onwards all the birth and death entries are available online.Public can view the online records official website http://www.honnavaratown.gov.in/egbnd/index.jsp
• Public Grievance Redressal Cell (HELPLINE): PGR Cell is setup in TP Honnavar to Readdress the complaints ragarding Street Lights, Water Supply,Drain/Garbage Cleaning etc. NGO is appointed to maintain the cell and is working 12*7. Public can register thier complaints via phone,Letter Or visit our official website http://www.honnavaratown.gov.in/pgr/grievance-redressal.jsp Helpline No is 08387-222630.
• Property Tax Information System(PTIS): PTIS is one of Most important Applications of Municiple Reforms Project. As per 2009-10 Survey of all 18 wards have been register online as on 22 August 2012 . Public can view their property details available online at http://www.honnavaratown.gov.in/ptisnn/public/citizenIndex.jsp website Pay thier Tax at TP Office.
• Fund Based Accounting System: Double Entry Accounting System is Introduced in the ULB from 01-04-2009. It has the following advantages over single entry accounting sytsem.
  • Easier detection of errors and frauds.
  • A more accurate calculation of income and loss
  • Inclusion of assets and liabilities in the books of account.
  • Preparation of financial statements directly from the accounts.
