Top Scorers Chart: user guide and rules
The Top Scorers Chart is updated after each round of matches by the Commission.
To attribute a goal to a player the Commission draws upon the following guidelines:
Case no.1
The scorer of the goal is the last player of the attacking team to have touched the ball. This is upheld even if the last player of the attacking side to have touched the ball did so in an unintentional manner.
Case no.2
The last player to touch the ball is a player from the defending team.
- If the initial shot from the attacking player was on target before touching the defending team player, the Commission will attribute the goal the attacking player, unless the trajectory of the ball was radically altered.
- If the initial shot was not on target before touching the defending team player, the goal is attributed to the defending team player. A shot against the post or crossbar that rebounds into play is not considered a shot on target. Hence, should a shot from the attacking team hit the woodwork and then rebound off a defender or goalkeeper and then go into goal, the goal is attributed to the last defending team player to have touched the ball.
Case no.3
If the goal results from a defensive play, the goal is attributed to the defensive team player that directs the ball into the goal.
In case of a tie in the top scorers chart, the players will be separated using the following criteria:
1/ the player that has scored the fewer number of penalties
2/ the player that has delivered the higher number of goal assists
3/ the player that scored their goals in the greater number of matches
4/ the player that played the fewer minutes
5/ the player that plays for the team placed higher on the table
6/ the player that received fewer red cards
7/ the player that received fewer yellow cards
