Tony Robinson's Museum of Us (original) (raw)

Tony Robinson’s Museum of Us is a revolutionary new TV history series which takes everything you thought you knew about museums and explodes it.
Sir Tony Robinson brings a design team to four different streets across the UK and invites local residents to work with them to create their very own pop-up museum. Working against the clock, the residents research, curate and build their own Museum of Us. All in just 7 days.
Locations
Hebron Road, Bristol
Exploring Bedminster’s industrial past
Somerset Road, Birmingham
From rural village to urban melting pot
Portland Street, Aberystwyth
Celebrating seaside, sailors & song
Calvert Street, Norwich
A tiny street with a huge history
Local history, brought to life
Working in collaboration with a local museum in each location, the residents piece together the story of their street, past and present. They borrow artefacts from museum collections, delve into historical records, unearth their own precious belongings, and help build an astonishing range of exhibits – from a welded metal ‘Welcome’ sign to an Augmented Reality trail.
Forget the image of dry, dusty spaces stuck in another time, Museum of Us sees local citizens and hidden heroes deep dive into the past life of their street to create an enthralling story space, right on their doorstep.
