Connect with People from the Philippines (original) (raw)
Whitepages.com.ph are edited from Cremerie de Paris,
a historic Telecom Hotspot in the capital of fashion.
1671 were invented at our old house in Paris, the Hotel de Villeroy Bourbon (VB),
the Royal Postal Services operated by the private Pajot & Rouillé family.
Horses were carrying letters to hundreds of Post Relais
of the Pajot & Rouillé and the Thurn & Taxis postal families.
When a letter was really important,
King Louis XIV came by in person
to give it to our postmaster Louis Leon Pajot.
The postmaster Anselm Franz von Thurn & Taxis helped with international mail
He and his Posthorm are part of the Whitepages.com.ph logo.
Carrying a letter from Paris to Malaysia was very complicated involving many Post Horses and Post Camels
walking along the coast of Africa and using the silk Route via India.
Letters send from Manila to Paris
always transitted by VB / La Poste / Cremerie de Paris,
the exact same location from where the Philippines Whitepages are edited today.
Even the water fountain for the Post Horses is still in place.
Our avant-garde Telecommunications company was a pioneering succes story
but the next French King, Louis XV was irritated that our place was so glamorous
it outshined him.
1738 mai 21 he used his absolute powers to withdraw the Postal license.
End of a story
But somehow Spirit of Telecomunications has stayed in the walls of our old VB Mension ... just falling asleep for a long long time ...
1767 Postal operations got more organised in Manila.
The first Post Office opened on the Escolata
next to the Estera de la Reina
close to the Santa Cruz church.
This avant-garde Post Office
is at the origin of Philipost
a company that exists scince 256 years
1779 Spain managed the postal office serving the entire Philippine archipelago
1876 Alexander Bell invented the phone creating a need for directories.
1881 Bell was in Paris and probably came by the house.
Bell loved to have young friends and we had the chance to know one of them.
First Whitepages came alive around 1888 during the construction of a new communication tower
made by Gustave Eiffel.
While in many countries Postal companies
turned into PTTs, Postes Telephones and Telegraphes
PHL Post
did not touch Telephones or Telephone Directories
Return of a story
1986 Johannes von Thurn & Taxis, a 6 x great grandson of Anselm Franz
the Postmaster in the Logo of the Phillipines Whitepages
came to Paris.
He showed us the old VB mansion with all it's fascinating history nobody knew about.
The idea came up to relaund it's Spirit of Telecommunications
asleep since 248 years.
Everything stated next door with a small avant-garde Repair Boutique for Sony Phones.
When you are 20 and you get the keys to a shop in Paris
a lot of adventures are waiting for you ...
1993 The phones and a little jewel left by Coco Chanel to
her magical friend Aimée de Heeren
a friend of Thurn & Taxis
helped us to get a loan to buy Cremerie de Paris at the VB mansion.
Soon opened the very first Internet cafe in France.
Travelling American Tech pioneers came by desperately looking for a web connection.
Our internet access made us run into unusual people:
one invented
"com", another one was on the first flight to the Moon,
others were still very young and we did not know who they were or who they were going to become ...
Our old Postmasters and the webcafe visitors influenced us
to invent VB.com and
Phone Book of the World
Whitepages for many other countries were added later
programming the pages at the webcafe during evening hours.
