IMPORTANT
Welcome!
Please check our the extensive memories section, which spans topics about members' programs from 2006 through the present.
Posts from 2006 were labeled just with their program or school name (such as "English").
In 2007, posts made by school, in addition to those by program, began to be added. (Please remember to spell out the school's name as "OSU" is the abbreviation for at least 2 schools if you're posting!)
So when you read through the memories, you'll see things like English, English 2007, English 2008. Thus there are posts for English majors made in 2006, 2007, and 2008.
That means that you should check your program in the memories section and, if there is not one listed as, for example, "Program Name 2009" or "School Name 2009" then you should start one. It will be added to the memories section. (Obviously, if you would begin courses in 2010, that's the year you'd put, not 2009, though 2010 threads won't begin to be accepted until after the 2009 round has ended in March or April.)
***Please check the memories both to see whether there is already a post for your school/program and so that you can title yours the same way (with the current year, of course) so that the memories will be in order (example: memory "English" will be first, followed immediately by "English 2007" and then "English 2008" so that someone interested in English can find all threads all together). It just makes it easier for some of those grouped majors or super long-worded ones :)
Can't wait to get the buzz and great news going again!
New posts are ONLY one of two ways:
1. "Spelled Out School Name 2009" (in this post, anyone applying/going to that school for any program at any level can comment) If you are going to a school where there are multiple campuses, the subject line will be for the school itself, and your writing within the post or comment will specify which campus you want to talk about, though all campuses will be allowed to be discussed there.
2. "Program Name 2009" (in this post, anyone applying/going into that program at any level can comment) No specifying only MA or only PhD in the subject line, ask those q's in a comment within, though all levels will be allowed to be discussed there.

This is the place to put all of your information in regards the waiting periods, acceptances, and rejections of getting into graduate school.
This covers mostly American schools, so if you are applying to schools in other countries, please note that in your posts! In addition, graduate school questions can be directed to community applyingtograd and the flip of that coin is that we welcome all members of that community to come here and share their results with us!
How this works:
*Check the memories section before posting. If your program is listed, post your comments/thoughts/etc in the comment section of that post. If there is not one for your program, make a post with the program name as the title.
*In addition, there are threads for bragging and for venting, so if you just need to get something out there (or if you'd rather read about others' goings-on), check that out as well!
As for the mandatory rules list, here goes:
*No spam
*No off-topic posts
*No posts promoting other, off-topic communities. If you are posting about an on-topic community, you must include information as to why you think it will be helpful to members and ask me first. If your post is off-topic or doesn't follow this, it will be deleted.
*No trolls -if you post, the post will immediately be deleted, so don't even waste your time!
*When listing a school, spell out the words (as "OSU" can mean OR, OH, or OK State U.)
*No bickering, rudeness, or petty fighting
*No posting negative comments about other comms, the mod, or other members
*Report any problems to the mod immediately by commenting in her lj. Please include the addy of the post you're upset about!
*No lowering of your self-esteem based on colleges' decisions
Let it be a reminder that we are here to help each other, not to bring others down!
