Welcome to the site of the 2nd annual Wikimedia conference.Thanks to all for helping make Wikimania '06 a terrific event.The 2007 Wikimania conference was held in Taipei, Taiwan, from August 3-5. Please visit the 2007 conference site for more information. For updates on future wikimanias, subscribe to the wikimania-l mailing list or visit the Meta-Wikimania page. Wikimania 2006, the second annual international Wikimedia conference, was held August 4–6 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, hosted by the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at the Harvard Law School campus. Both a scientific conference and a community event, Wikimania brought together members of the various Wikimedia projects in order to exchange ideas, build relationships, and report on research and project efforts. It also provided an opportunity for Wikimedians and the general public alike to meet and share ideas about free and open source software, free knowledge initiatives, and wiki projects worldwide. We thank you all, speakers, attendees, people who helped the conference ... all of you who showed an interest to realize this event. See you again at the next conference. Post-conference Audio and video archives of some of the presentations are available, as are abstracts and texts of presentations. A pdf of presentation abstracts is available. Latest news Rumours of too little pie at Wikimania have been somewhat exaggerated. Check the page for August 7th's Citizen Journalism unconference for live transcription and archive links.
