We know the statistics, but what we do not know is who these people are, where they are living, and how we reach them with the Gospel. This article presents a strategy for identifying and reaching ethnic groups in the city. The first section provides information for locating internationals through research at the national, state, and local level. The second section examines issues related to urban ethnic church planting such as meeting felt needs, understanding worldview issues, dealing with preliterates, and training and partnering with other churches

And finally, I thank God, who pursued me when I was tired, absent, and consumed with things lesser than Him. It is by God's grace that I am able to do anything of value, and I pray He uses this dissertation to help others make disciples of all peoples.

After forty years in the U.S., the Hmong have retained a higher level of religious and cultural identity than many refugee groups. I believe the answer lay in their tightly knit and powerful clan structure that serves to establish the boundaries of what it means to "be Hmong" in America.

How much of who they "were" do they retain, and how much of the new culture do they "become" in order to survive? This paper discusses assimilation theory and proposes three models for immigrant identity in a diaspora setting.

The crisis has become global in scale and requires a global response. This article presents a biblical theology of the Hebrew and Greek word group translated as sojourner/foreigner/alien/stranger demonstrating God’s command to His people to care for the stranger among them. Refugee care is not a compassionate aside but is rather an integral component of the overall narrative of redemptive history. This study brings a needed theological depth to the many practical works on refugee ministry. Presented at the 2016 Evangelical Missiological Society national conference.

Should we still be concerned with "brain drain", or in light of diaspora missiology and displaced people groups, should we welcome internationals who choose to remain in the U.S. to minister to their own or near culture people? I evaluate the effect of modular Ph.D programs on the international student population and offer a critique of the idea that more than 300 UPGs are present in the U.S. The paper was presented at the Evangelical Missiological Society.
