Today, on #InternationalSafeAbortionDay, more than 20 million women in Europe lack access to safe and accessible abortion and need your help. In some countries, this is due to strict laws, but it can also be because of financial barriers or doctors’ refusals. ✍️To help them, the MyVoiceMyChoice movement has submitted a Citizens’ Initiative demanding that the EU do what is in its power to ensure safe and accessible abortion for all, and to create a financial mechanism. They need to gather 1 million signatures from across Europe, and time is running out.⏳ This is why we need you to sign & share it! On this occasion, we also call on the EU and its member states to implement our political family’s flagship project, an EU Women’s Rights Charter, which would also protect SRHR; and for the inclusion of the right to safe and legal abortion care in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. Globally, the #GenderPayGap remains critical, with women earning about 20% less than men.At the EU level in 2022, according to Eurostat, women earned 12.7% less than men per hour on average. @pes_women fought hard, alongside Commissioner for Equality @dallihelena, and our S&D members, especially the negociators @marcangel_mep and @mep_evelyn_regner, for the adoption of the Pay Transparency Directive.
