The National Beer Scoring System (NBSS) built into WhatPub.com is a 0-5 (0 = No cask ale available) point scale for judging beer quality in pubs.
Good Beer Guide selections
Worcester CAMRA branch nominates 24 pubs for entry to the Good Beer Guide every year
Packed with 4,500 of the best real ale pubs in the UK and information on every real ale brewery currently operating. Worcester CAMRA has 24 pubs to nominate annually. Worcester CAMRA uses the scoring system, survey trips, word of mouth and selections knockout rounds evening to select the 24 pubs. Due to the high standard of pubs in our area, we find there are really good pubs that don’t get into the good beer guide because of limited space.
Pub of the Year selections
Each branch nominates a pub of the year (POTY) for their area
Worcestershire is made up of 4 CAMRA branches: Worcester, Wyre Forest, Redditch and Bromsgrove, and Shakespeare. Pubs are then potentially nominated for Worcestershire POTY, West Midlands POTY or National POTY
Campaigning
CAMRA are always campaigning for good quality real ale, cider and perry in thriving pubs and clubs across every community

Encourage more people to try a range of real ales, ciders, and perries
To raise the profile of pub-going and increase the number of people using pubs regularly
Historical Pub Interiors
CAMRA's Pub Heritage Group identify and record those pubs which retain traditional interiors or have rooms or features of national importance
CAMRA’s Pub Heritage Group identifies and records those pubs which retain traditional interiors or have rooms or features of national importance. 265 are listed on our National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors. A 2nd tier—the Regional Inventories of Historic Pub Interiors records interiors which are altered but still have architectural value
Worcester Beer Festival
Well established with 2019 being the 20th festival year
Worcester CAMRA Beer, Cider and Perry Festival is held yearly in August, on the racecourse in the centre of Worcester City, conveniently sited for local and national public transport. The festival is organised and run entirely by volunteers. It’s a big festival and takes a lot of organising and a large staff to run it.
Worcester Pub Festival
In 2019 Worcester held it's very first Pub Festival which was a great success
The Worcester Pub Beer Festival will be held from Friday 29th to Sunday 31st March 2019.
This inaugural event featured 12 of Worcester’s finest pubs, over 120 different beers, some amazing ciders and Perrys and, of course, fantastic food and entertainment.

9000+ copies are distributed to real ale pubs in and around the county. You can get involved by distributing around Worcestershire pubs and it’s a great icebreaker for landlords or if you’re feeling a little more creative why not have your say and write an article.

Pubs featured on this website have been independently added and updated by thousands of CAMRA volunteers and includes over 96% of Britain’s real ale pubs. Worcester CAMRA looks after the information on 250+ pubs in our area. Information is maintained by individuals, our database coordinates and our active Worcester CAMRA members.
CAMRA LocAle
LocAle is an initiative that promotes pubs stocking locally brewed real ale in order to reduce the number of ‘beer miles’ from brewery to pub cellar.
Accredited Pubs endeavour to ensure at least one locally brewed real ale is available.Everyone benefits: public houses, consumers, local brewers, The local economy, the environment and tourism
Beer Tasting
Beer Tasting and Beer Tasting Panels
Beer Tasting courses are available locally. CAMRA Tasting Panels are responsible for tasting all the beers that are regularly brewed within the Region. Annually they check and write the beer descriptions in the back of the Good Beer Guide and also put forward beers to CAMRA’s Champion Beer of Britain Competition
Pub Survey Trips
Worcester CAMRA survey trips keep us up todate with rural pubs in our area
Four mini-bus survey trips annually covering Worcestershire South, Worcestershire West, Worcestershire East and Worcestershire Pub of the Year. WhatPub beer scoring(NBSS) is considered for a pub survey list. Pubs are surveyed as part of the trips and WhatPub information updated accordingly
City Pub Tours
Worcester City north and south pub tours
Two walking Worcester city pub tours annually to survey Worcester pubs. WhatPub beer scoring considered for city pub tour itinerary
Worcester pubs in previous GBGs or POTYs are reviewed. Pubs are surveyed as part of the trips and WhatPub information updated accordingly.
Social Events
Worcester CAMRA have social events most months of the year
Worcester CAMRA has a range of events we get involved with from Pub beer festivals, CAMRA beer festivals, Boat trips, and others to simply meeting up in a nice pub for a chat, sometimes talking about topics other than beer.
Member Meetings
Worcester CAMRA meetings happen 9 times a year and is where we catch up on everything beer and CAMRA
All member meetings have a full agenda covering all member activities such as beer scoring, locale, pub surveying, and the latest pub news. A topic of the Evening is an open discussion on a specific CAMRA related topic
