wordcrafters - Profile (original) (raw)
on 3 June 2005 (#7314758)
This is a community dedicated to giving writers a forum to stretch their wings, try new ideas, and unblock their writers' blocks. Poetry and prose, essay and fiction are all welcome. Prompts will be given on a daily basis using published writers' tools ("The Creative Writers' Kit: Prompts & Practices," edited by Vanessa Brown, (c) 2003 New World Library; text taken from "A Writer's Book of Days" by Judy Reeves (c)1999). Using these prompts, writers can post scribbles, notes, or whatever they can come up with. The rest of the members will then have the opportunity to offer constructive criticism, with the understanding that these are rough drafts. Be kind to one another and have fun.
HOW TO PLAY:
1. The moderator (irish_horse) will post a prompt every day.
2. Write something, anything, using or touching on the prompt.
3. Post your results as a new comment with the prompt as the subject line and the actual work under an lj-cut.
4. Read others' posts and offer helpful hints, suggestions, praise, or constructive criticism.
RULES:
1. Constructive criticism only. No denigration or insulting of other members will be tolerated. No personal attacks of any kind will be tolerated.
2. Writers must understand that criticism is a part of the writing experience. No hostile reactions to potentially negative but nonetheless still constructive criticism will be tolerated. No personal attacks of any kind will be tolerated.
3. Any adult material must be noted as such above the cut.
4. Fannish writing is allowed, but original work is preferred. If the characters, situations or universes of other writer(s) are used, please give credit where credit is due above the cut. (I.E., "vignette using the characters and situations from Stargate SG-1")
5. You do not have to be a writer to be a reader. Readers may offer constructive criticism without writing, but writers are preferred. :)
