Shatner does Chapin

Regardless how you feel about Harry Chapin, I think we can agree that Shatner is doing Harry no favors.

Shiny? I think not! I blame cjfringe for pointing this out ...

This may be one of the worst videos ever. There's a ton of money involved here, but still, it sucks. The good thing ... if this had been released in 1985, it could have been a major hit, and we would have had to listen to it over and over and over again on eMpTV. Now ... not so much. Oh, and his father is Gary Owens ... from Laugh In.

I'm shocked ... shocked I say From imdb.com's news section

Hilton's Second Album In Jeopardy
1 December 2008 11:03 PM, PST
Socialite Paris Hilton is having problems with her second pop album - she can't find a record label willing to release it.
The Simple LIfe star founded Heiress Records, a sub-label of Warner Bros. Records, in 2004 and released her self-titled debut album, Paris, under that label in 2006.
The LP reached number six on the U.S. Billboard chart, but sold only 180,000 copies in America. She subsequently parted ways with Warner Bros.
Hilton has finished recording a second album, but currently has no record deal in place to release the follow-up.
She says, "I'm figuring it out right now. I'm not sure which label I'm doing it with.
"I wrote all the songs, it's very dance, like Kylie Minogue

Damn, and I was so looking forward to reviewing it here.

A prediction I don't care about the Grammy's much. I find them dull and generally against everything that I think is right about music.

I do like one thing about them though, the new artist category. It's been won by some amazing people, like Shelby Lynne in 2001. Odd that her first album came out 12 years before. So here are the nominees for this year and the year that they first put out a record.

Feist - 1999
Ledisi - 2000
Amy Winehouse - 2003
Paramore - 2005
Taylor Swift - 2006

I think that Feist has a lock on this.

My X Are OK So it seems there's a Norwegian single out there by Lene Alexandre called "My Boobs Are OK":

which was parodied by Boys On Wheels, three guys in wheelchairs with cerebral palsy, as "My Balls Are OK":

who also have a medley of parodies they call "New Wheels On The Block" (skip to 0:50, since the first is in Finnish)

This is the one that led me to the others. It's never good when your parody songs have laugh tracks.

Here's another where the song isn't nearly as good as the title, "Making Love In The Handicap Toilet":

Recent acquistions Occasionally I will buy something cheap just to verify something or other. Here are three examples.

All part of the King Biscuit Flower Hour reissues from about 10 years ago.

The Good
Foghat
The ultimate in big, loud, stupid rock and roll. Still one of the best live shows I have ever seen, just as long as you don't try to think while they are playing, that ruins the whole thing. This is just goofy, in a glorious way.

The Bad
Rick Derringer & Friends
Fairly generic rock and roll, Rick is overshadowed totally by a cameo by Ian Hunter from Mott The Hoople.

And the Fugly
Black Oak Arkansas
Ok, MAYBE worth the 3 bucks I paid for it for Ruby Starr's sterling rendition of Maybe I'm Amazed. Through most of the rest of the set, especially Hot & Nasty (cause I now need angioplasty) the band sounds like 5 people all playing a different song, which is scary, cause there are 6 of them. One of the guitar players just never shows up in the mix at all. I looked up some live video on You Tube last night. One of them featured Ruby Starr, and it was hysterical. At a certain point one of the cameramen ends up at the back of the stage. The rest of the clip was pretty much all shots of Ruby's butt. The best thing that could happen at the moment I suppose.

One of these days Why did Frank Sinatra ever let his daughter near a microphone? "These Boots Were Made For Walking" has got to be the worst song EVER recorded, by the worst singer ever to flat a note. Horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE!

I can't believe he didn't kill her before he let her near the recording studio!

Wonderous moments in spam The headline

"Increase your Penis Size 2"

Since there were obviously so many unanswered questions in the first email, that a sequel was required

And the body of your typical picture email (I didn't bother looking at the picture)

"Furthermore, the purple bowling ball self-flagellates, and a turkey feverishly is a big fan of a jersey cow inside a chestnut. An apartment building inside a judge goes to sleep, because the movie theater near the fire hydrant goes deep sea fishing with a purple asteroid. Sometimes the minivan of a class action suit self-flagellates, but a financial cowboy always graduates from a fruit cake of a ball bearing!"
