İbrahimler köyünün bir mahallesi (Една махала в Село Аврамово) Bu resimin çekildiği 1973 yılında ... more İbrahimler köyünün bir mahallesi (Една махала в Село Аврамово) Bu resimin çekildiği 1973 yılında bu mahallede yalnız bir aile yaşıyordu. Diğerleri 1960-61 yıllarında Aytos belediyesi köylerine göç etmişlerdi. İbrahimler köyü, birkaç mahalleden oluşmuştur: İbramlar, Karaveliler, Yamaç mahalle ve Kanoğulları, Arda nehrin üzerine bir kuş gibi konmuştur. Karşılarındaki Bezdüven dağı, tıpkı bir dev misali üzerlerine sanki boynunu uzatmış, gitmiştir. Geçmişte, kimler kurmuş, kimler konmuş şu küçük Rodop mekanına, bilinmiyor. Her halde ya üç kardeş, ya da sülale bu yamaçları "feth" etmişler, bu dağ sırtlarını mekan edinmişlerdir.

There is an ongoing debate about whether individual and group identities are fixed andresistant t... more There is an ongoing debate about whether individual and group identities are fixed andresistant to change or fluid, changing according to evaluation by individuals and groupsof circumstances at a given time and place. This article, by examining the history of Pomak identities during the twentieth century, concludes that identities are sociallyconstructed through performance, political struggle and compromise. Individuals andgroups often use identities strategically to adapt to a variety of situations to produceand support effective self-concepts.

This search involves several steps. The first step is interviewing oneself to try to identify as many of one's ancestors as possible, as far back as possible. During this step one concentrates on lineal relatives and ends up with a chart similar to the one below.
