Winter-Write-a-Thon (original) (raw)

Anti-Nano and Winter-Write-A-Thon are now living over at squidathon. If you want to take part this year, head on over and sign up!

teamsquid lives! I've made it a moderated community, so if you're interested, go sign up and be made one with the squiddy goodness. I've done a quick round-up of how I think we think it should work, but these are by no means set in stone and I really want this to be fun and constructive above all else, so feel free to add your own thoughts!

(For those who didn't cross over to springathon , Team Squid is a newly-born online critique group, so those of us who are looking for feedback can exchange work. Feel free to pop over and take a look.)

It is indeed the last day of February, which means the Winter Write-a-Thon must end. Sigh. I've really enjoyed doing this, especially reading everyone's snippets on Wednesdays, so I hope you all have too. I'd love to start up again in November for Anti-Nano (although that seems forever away right now). I know it's probably too early to decide, but if you'd also like to make WWAT an annual tradition, let me know!

I think I'll probably continue posting Wednesday snippets on my blog as it makes me feel like I'm being productive.

Anyway, how was everyone's weekend? I carried on working on the tessa_morelock project and I want to get that done before I go back to anything else. I'm hoping to have a first draft done by the end of the week.

I can't believe I forgot to do the Friday check-in, especially when it's the last one! In my defence, we got a new microwaves yesterday after months of living without one and it was pretty exciting. Actually, that's a crappy defence.

Anyway, how are we all doing? I feel like I haven't done much this week, but I just haven't done anything on Halflife or Blood and Bones because I was working on a tessa_morelock project. So I have been writing, just not on the stuff I probably should be...

Here's mine, from Blood and Bones. It's ... not the most exciting. Sorry! But it does have Smoke and I like him.

( Snikt!Collapse )

Courtesy of my phone! How was everyone's weekend? I mostly caught up with submissions for Serve In Heaven, Reign In Hell, and did some work on Blood and Bones. I feel like I should have done more, but there were men in the house all weekend and they distracted me with HP Lovecraft board games.

So I've kind of been given permission to uh... not really do anything this morning. My line manager is taking her nurses for bacon sandwiches and when I asked if there was anything I could be getting on with while they were gone, she A) looked amazed I'd bothered to ask and B) said "no, just keep things ticking over."

So I've interpreted "things" as "things Nome wants to do," since I'm actually on top of my day-job to-do list. Anyway, the point is, it's check-in time! How's everyone's week been? I'm feeling good. I'm getting through my Serve in Heaven, Reign in Hell slushpile, I added 1k to Halflife (it's a rubbish 1k on reflection, but as Harold Zoid says, we'll get it in editing), and last night I got through two chapters of edits on Wild. Huzzahs! I've also been talking to my editor at Queered Fiction about some upcoming projects I'm really excited about... details soon!

And the rest of you?

And I have a snippet from Halflife! A small snippet, admittedly, but it counts. Behold:

Happy Valentine's day to everyone! It's very easy to be cynical about today, what with all the commercialism and whatnot, but let's not forget what Valentine's day is really all about.

Chocolate. And there's nothing cynical about chocolate.

Anyway, how was everyone's weekend? I think I'm back on the wagon; I finished my Ethan Banning short - huzzahs! I did forget to write my horoscope column though, so guess what I'm frantically doing right now?

I can't believe I forgot to post the check-in yesterday! Too much Law and Order: SVU, I think. Well, I don't have much to report anyway, but hopefully everyone else does...?
