American Birding Association Checklist Committee Report, November 2024
Since our update in September 2024, the CLC has accepted two species to the ABA Checklist: Eastern Cattle-Egret (Ardea coromanda), and Vega Gull (Larus vegae). The CLC also opted not to add Great White Pelican (Pelecanus onocrotalus), and voted to remove two species from the Provisional List of exotic species that could potentially become established in the ABA Area, White (Cacatua alba) and Salmon-crested (C. moluccensis) cockatoos.
ABA Checklist Committee Report: September 2024
This update of the ABA Checklist included three species added updates to rarity codes, taxonomic changes, and discussion of two species not accepted by the ABA Checklist Committee (CLC).
Checklist Redux 2024
It’s that time of year! The AOS has published its checklist changes, and this time there are lots—from lumping redpolls to splits of Brown Booby, Barn Owl, and House Wren to new genera for Snowy Plover, Least Bittern, and Brown Jay. North American Birds Editor Michael Retter has distilled the changes for you in his annual “Checklist Redux”.
ABA Checklist Committee (CLC) Report: July 2024
The ABA Checklist includes species found in the ABA Area which are breeding species, regular visitors, casual and accidental species from other regions that are believed to have strayed here unrestrained by humans, and well-established introduced species that are now part of our avifauna. This update adds three species. Species Total: 1141

The 2022 mid-year update of the ABA Checklist has been posted. It adds 5 new species:
Bat Falcon, Red-Masked Parakeet, Lilac-crowned Parrot, Rufous-tailed Rock-Thrush, Chihuahuan Meadowlark.
