The Cliffs of Moher Audio Guide – set sail with a story with Aran Island Ferries and Abarta Heritage
Set sail with Aran Island Ferries and enjoy some of Ireland’s most iconic scenery, a place that really puts the ‘wild’ in Wild Atlantic Way! This audio guide will offer fascinating insights into the history, geology and mythology of the land and waters that surround the famous Cliffs of Moher.
Formed over 300 million years ago, these geological giants are one of Ireland’s most famous landmarks. During this podcast, you will hear about the tragic tale of Mal’s love for Cú Chulainn and how the Cliffs of Moher got their name.
The guide will describe the fantastic geological features of the cliffs, including sea stacks and the sea cave where Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was filmed. It will also discuss the many seabirds who nest here, including kittiwakes, razorbills and puffins.
Our audio guide will also help you discover some of the highlights of the Aran Islands, which are famed for their rugged beauty. We will journey past the magical landscape of the Burren, which is home to a myriad of flowers and one of Ireland’s oldest megalithic tombs, Poulnabrone Dolmen. As we set sail towards Galway Bay, the guide will provide information on the sea creatures who swim beneath the boat and call the Atlantic Ocean home. The audio guide finishes in Galway Port, where we offer recommendations on things to see and do in this vibrant city of culture.
The Aran Islands Audio Guide was produced by Abarta Heritage on behalf of Aran Islands Ferries. The guide is designed to be listened to on board, or you can enjoy it from the comfort of your own home and it will hopefully inspire you to take a voyage to discover the islands for yourself.
