Bailey named as Demons coach (original) (raw)

Port Adelaide assistant coach Dean Bailey has won the senior coaching job with Melbourne, beating four other applicants including Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy and former Fremantle coach Chris Connolly.

Melbourne has appointed Bailey for the next three years to replace Neale Daniher, who resigned in round 13 after 10 years at the club.

The Demons are 14th on the ladder heading into the final round of the AFL this weekend after a poor season in which they have won just four matches and lost 17.
