Engaged, professional – and female?" : a gender perspective on museum education in Germany (original) (raw)

This paper examines the gender dynamics within museum education in Germany, highlighting the historical predominance of women in this field despite a male-dominated professional landscape. The emergence of female educators in museums is traced from the early 20th century to the present, arguing that societal and professional factors influenced this transition. The findings point to the gradual recognition and establishment of museum education roles specifically for women, culminating in their current dominance in the profession.
