The aim of the study is to provide information and awareness about the emotional neglect and exploitation of preschool teacher candidates using quantitative research method. The study’s population was 360 students and the sample size was 212 teacher candidates in pre-school teaching determined by objective sampling method. “The Emotional Neglect/Abuse Knowledge and Awareness Scale” was used to determine the level of knowledge and awareness of teacher candidates about emotional neglect and abuse. Socio-demographic Information Form was used to see the socio-demographic characteristics of the teacher candidates. The data were analyzed by SPSS 21.0. When the level of knowledge and awareness of emotional neglect and exploitation of pre-school teaching candidates in North Cyprus is examined, it is concluded that 22-25 year olds tend to ignore emotional neglect/abuse more. As the educational level increases, the tendency of people to refuse/ignore emotional neglect/ abstinence and to islolation and threaten is increased. Effect of training about child neglect and abuse to teachers and its effect to awareness

Background This study aimed to evaluate the effects of child neglect and abuse training on the knowledge and awareness of medical vocational schoolteachers in Turkey. Methods This study was conducted based on data taken from a sample of teachers from Kayseri, Turkey, between October 2016 and April 2017. Teachers who agreed to participate in the study received training pertaining to child neglect and abuse. Data were collected through a survey form and the Scale for Identifying the Symptoms and Risks of Child Abuse and Neglect. Data were analyzed using SPSS V.20.0 software. For statistical analyses, Student’s t test, analysis of variance and McNemar tests were conducted, with a value of p < 0.05 being considered statistically significant. Examination of Preschool Teachers' Views on Child Neglect and Abuse

According to the World Health Organization emphasizes that children are the age group most in need of protection because of their vulnerability. However, studies show that millions of children are exposed to neglect and abuse every year in the world, which can leave lifelong scars neglect and abuse are accepted as a universal problem all over the world. This research was conducted to get the opinions of preschool teachers about child neglect and abuse. Phenomenology was used in this study. Convenience sampling method was used to collect the data. The research sample consists of 40 teachers. Teacher interview form was used as a data collection tool in the research. The data were analyzed by content analysis technique. As a result of the research, it was determined that the majority of the teachers explained the concept of child neglect based on 'emotional neglect'. According to another finding of the study, teachers evaluated child abuse mostly in terms of 'physical abuse'. Accordingly, teachers stated that the most important factor leading to child neglect and abuse is "family factors". In addition, teachers stated that trainings should be organized, social awareness should be increased, legal regulations should be reviewed and family-child communication should be ensured in order to prevent child neglect and abuse. Accordingly, the majority of teachers stated that the most important role of school stakeholders in protecting children from neglect and abuse is "to organize trainings". According to another finding of the study, the vast majority of teachers stated that they do not have enough information about the legal regulations for the protection of children from neglect and abuse.
Awareness levels of teachers regarding the physical abuse in children
The aim of our research is to determine the awareness of primary school teachers on physical abuse in children according to their gender and professional experience. Material and Methods, Teachers in primary schools of four central distinct Directorate of National Education within Mersin province constituted the research population of the study. Teachers who agreed to participate in research based on a voluntary basis according to simple random sampling method (n:137) formed the research sample of the study. Data were collected using a survey having 21 questions which were rephrased by researchers. Research ethical committee and National Education Directorate approvals relating the study were taken prior to data collection. Results, In this study, teachers are determined to be female in 51%, to have a mean age of 37.58±7.64 to be married in 86.9%. "Bruises and wounds on child's face" which is a physical abuse indication is regarded by teachers as a physical abuse indication in 88.3% while 11.7% of them do not regarded the marks as a physical abuse. Human bites are realized largely for the purpose of punishment and they show abuse. Child's hand and arm are the areas where an adult hold the child tightly. "Bruises and bite marks on child's hand and arm" which is a physical abuse indication is regarded by teachers as a physical abuse indication in 93.4% while 6.6% of them do not regarded the marks as a physical abuse. 70.8% of the teachers have encountered "parental disregard to their children" finding within last two years. Conclusion, It is recommended that training about child abuse and child neglect which is qualified to meet the requirements of students and their families should be given to graduate teachers and student teachers studying in early childhood education.
Knowledge and opinions of child development vocational school students about child neglect and abuse

This study was planned in an attempted to find out knowledge and opinions about child neglect and abuse of child development vocational school students who has an important role in the care of 0-6 age group children, and to create an awareness in this field. Method: Our descriptive type study's sample was formed by 197 Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Child Development Vocational School Students. To obtain the data survey form was applied to the students in the classroom in break time between courses. 7 students who were not present in the class were excluded from the study were excluded from the study. In order to data analysis number, percentage, mean, standard deviation and chi-square test were used. Results: Regarding 190 students who participated in the study, 188 were female and 2 were male. 9.5% of the students (n: 18) stated that they had been subjected of violence, 13.8% of (n: 26) stated that they were exposed to neglect. 20 students (10.5%) received formal training in neglect and abuse. 93.1% (n: 175) of the students stated that they had to report child neglect and abuse according to the law, 88.6% (n: 164) of stated that they should report in accordance with the policies of Ministry of National Education, 95.8% (n: 181) stated that they were responsible for moral reporting. When they detect neglect or abuse, 47.3% (n: 88) think that they should report it to Social Services and 39.2% (n: 73) think that they should report it to the Security Directorate. The rate of those who think they can recognize physical abuse symptoms is 29.1% (n: 55). 94.1% of the students (n: 176) stated that they needed more information about this subject. Conclusions: As a result of our study, we found that child development students did not have sufficient knowledge about child neglect and abuse. To increase knowledge level and awareness of child developers who having close contact with children changes in the education program should be planned, and abuse and neglect should be included in the curriculum.
Child abuse and neglect have a potentially deleterious impact on children's physical, social, and psychological development. Preschool teachers may play a crucial role in the protection, early detection, and the intervention of child abuse and neglect, as they have the opportunity to establish a close contact with the families and to observe day-today changes in pupils' behavior. The main purpose of this study is to investigate preschool teachers' experiences and characteristics in relation to their awareness of possible child abuse and neglect signs. A questionnaire survey was designed and administered to 197 preschool teachers who work for the public preschools in the Izmir province of Turkey. In addition to the questionnaire items, a 34-item Likert-type scale measuring the level of familiarity with possible signs of child abuse and neglect was developed. This scale had an internal consistency of 0.94. The results revealed that 10.65% of preschool teachers had training regarding violence against children and 2.03% of them had training in child abuse and neglect. Child abuse is a complex problem and its prevention requires action on many fronts. Teachers do spend many hours a day with children and they are likely to be concerned about the possible abuse or neglect of a child or young person at some time during their career This study seeks to determine teacher knowledge and teachers' conceptions of what is and what is not abuse. The study was done in Iran (I.R.). Questionnaire were used on a randomly selected sample of 1200 teachers. Data analysis showed a significant difference knowledge based on educational level. Knowledge score of participants had positive direct relation with their job experience. In regard to the attitude, there was no significant difference in attitude score based on various features of participants. Result from this study indicate that teachers do not have adequate knowledge and proper attitude regarding child maltreatment. Advocating of educational program about child maltreatment is necessary.

In this study, the attitudes of special education teachers working in various schools in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus towards reporting child neglect and abuse were examined according to various variables. In accordance with this purpose, 86 special education teachers participated in the study. A personal information form and a "teacher attitudes towards the reporting of child abuse and neglect" survey were applied to the participants. Four out of ten of the participating teachers indicated that they received education on child abuse, and nine out of ten stated that marrying a child younger than 18 should be considered as an abuse. Background : A major public concern in today’s world is child abuse and neglect (CAN). Teachers are in unique position to detect possible cases due to their daily contact with children. To assess the knowledge and awareness on recognizing and reporting child abuse and neglect among primary school teachers of Kanpur city. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted among 220 primary school teachers in 19 randomly selected schools of Kanpur city, Uttar Pradesh, India. A structured close ended questionnaire prepared in two languages (English and National language Hindi) comprising of 19 questions was used. Results: CAN was either never or rarely noticed among 47.3%. The criteria of recognizing the CAN was known by 57% and 90% felt comfortable considering an expert opinion in their schools and so can report confidently.
