As such, the structure, evolution and challenges, and effectiveness of a country's national security strategy is intrinsically shaped and influenced by of a host of domestic, regional and international strategic considerations.

Re-Defining Threat to National Defence: Case Study of Indonesia-Malaysia Border Dispute in West Kalimantan

The country's border areas are not immune from threats to national defense, both traditionally and non-traditionally. One of the country's border areas is Entikong, which is located in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. This area is directly adjacent to the State of Sarawak, East Malaysia. State border areas tend to be considered vulnerable to military threats such as territorial invasions. However, territorial defense can be threatened by non-traditional threats that can affect state sovereignty through the nationalism of its people. Content Analysis of Indonesian National Security Architecture

This paper aims to explain the relationship between the traditional and non-traditional security threats that Indonesia is facing, and the policy options undertaken by Indonesia to address them. Given the growing concern about the existing security threats, it is important to evaluate the national security architectures. This article applies content analysis techniques to understand the policy construction chosen by Indonesian government through a series of regulations; the State Intelligence Law, the Social Conflict Management Law, the Anti-Terrorism Law, and National Security Bill. The research finds that Indonesian national security architectures emphasizes on the military-based approach, rather than the civil-based approach.

Public Policy Optimizing the Tasks of the Indonesia National Armed Forces to Overcome Threat of Terrorism

Terrorism that occurs both in the world and in Indonesia is a crime that cannot be classified as an ordinary crime, academically categorized as an extraordinary crime. Actions of terrorism in Indonesia can already be classified as a military threat, namely threats that use armed force, are organized and are considered to have capabilities that endanger state sovereignty. The armed forces’s task in overcoming these acts of terrorism has not been effective. The research objective is to provide government input on the importance of optimizing the armed forces's task in overcoming the threat of terrorism. Research using qualitative methods is aimed at understanding social phenomena from the perspective of the participants. The results achieved were formal legality, the ability of the armed forces and organizational synchronization to be an absolute factor in the armed forces's task in overcoming the threat of terrorism.

Indonesia as the largest archipelagic country in the world with a coastline of 108,000 kilometers, has land borders with three neighboring countries and Indonesian waters borders with ten neighboring countries, so it is the obligation of the Indonesian government and all citizens to maintain the integrity of its territory. In maintaining the integrity of its territory directly adjacent to other countries, based on geographical conditions in terms of this approach, the border area should be placed as the front fence in the national defense system. This research was conducted to determine the condition of the people of Indonesia's border areas and aims to analyze the efforts in empowering the people of the border areas through increasing awareness of defending the country. By using a qualitative descriptive method, the data to be taken comes from books, previous research, scientific articles, literature and news from the official website. Along with global developments, the forms of threats that exist are not only physical threats but also non-physical threats. The Humanitarian Impacts on Internal Conficts in Indonesia: A National Security Analysis

Internal con icts which frequently occur in some parts of Indonesia such as Aceh, Maluku, Poso and Papua have caused many casualties and losses. If it continues, this situation will threaten the regional security. This article explains the impact of the humanitarian problems as a result of internal con icts in Indonesia by analysing the national security concept. By using secondary data obtained from literature review and observations in con ict areas, this study depicts that the internal con icts that occur has led to insecurity of society, which could threaten for nation’s stability. The study concludes that the government’s inability to guarantee the security of the entire country could threaten national security.

The geographical condition of Indonesia, which is adjacent to several other countries, still poses various problems, both internal and external. This study aims to analyze factual and potential threats that are deemed capable of disrupting the stability of the border regions. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach with a case study method. The study was conducted in the border regions of the Republic of Indonesia and the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste. Data were collected using interviews, observation, and study documentation. The research involved several parties as sources of information, including government, academia, and society. Data analysis consists of three stages, i.e. data reduction, data display, and data verification. Indonesian National Security During Pandemic

The background of this article is based on national security issues during the Covid-19 pandemic. Coronavirus diseases-2019 or known as COVID-19 originated in the city of Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. The virus first appeared at the end of 2019. Its spread is very fast and has plagued almost all countries in the world, including Indonesia. COVID-19 has an impact on all sectors, the economy, the tourism industry, agriculture, education, health services, security and defense, and many more. The research method used in this study using qualitative research. Data was obtained through previous research in the form of books, journals, scientific articles, and news from official websites. The results of this study indicate that the concept of national security contained in the state constitution is urgent to be presented.
