Library Resources and Services of Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RJKUT), Nuzivid, Andhra Pradesh: A Study

This study examines the use of collections and services at IIIT Nuzivid Library. A well structured 800 questionnaires were distributed among users during the academic session 2017, to find out the user of information resources is being provided by IIIT, Nuzivid library. The present study demonstrates and elaborates the various aspects of use of resources and services, purpose of visit to the library; adequacy of library hours, use and collections of documents that is, internet information resources. The paper also identifies the levels of use of various services provided, access of online databases services, and users' awareness about different types of library services. Features issues looked by the respondents at different parameters of the library. Recommendations have been given to make the assets and administrations more advantageous for the future scholastic group.

User Perception of Library Services in Academic Institutions in the Southern Districts of Tamil Nadu, India: A Case Study

Information science focuses on understanding problems from the perspective of stakeholders and then applying information and other technologies as needed. In other words, it tackles systemic problems first rather than individual pieces of technology within that system. In this respect, information science can be seen as a response to technological determination, the belief that technology "develops by its own laws, that it realizes its own potential, limited only by the material resources available, and must therefore be regarded as an autonomous system controlling and ultimately permeating all other subsystems of society." Within information science, attention has been given in recent years to human computer interaction, group ware, the semantic web value sensitive design, interactive design processes and to the ways people generate, use and find information. Today this field is called the Field of Information, and there are a growing number of Schools and Colleges of Information. The uses of Information technologies or IT in different facets of every day life are considered as a barometer of a country's progress. Dramatic improvements are taking place in the two major components of IT: Computers and Telecommunication and these both have affected the entire scenario (1). The Impact of information technologies on the library is quite obvious as it has created new types of work, prompted redefinition of certain functions, influenced interpersonal relationships and transformed traditional organization structures into new institutional entities(2). This study is southern districts of Tamil Nadu is being included four districts are Madurai, Ramanathapuram and Sivaganga; these are focal places of educating in southern part of Tamil Nadu in India. These districts having around 150 institutions are available. We have distributed the questionnaires only colleges of Arts and science, Para Medical, Engineering and Technology only 145 questionnaires distributed and were received only 120 questionnaires from the respondents. The researcher has found various methods of services are functioning in the academic institutions libraries. This is one of the significant attempts carried out for the research. Different methods adopted by the library users in searching the legal database by the users are identified. An attempt is made to assess the service quality; use of various search engines and impressions of the law libraries is presented. Some of the popular journals and databases used are listed (3).In the present situation, higher education is bound to opt for the unavoidable shift form the culture of print to a culture of digital technology. This affects teaching, learning and research and also the whole of higher education (4).

Use of Information Sources and Services in University Libraries by Sadu Ranganadham

An effort is made in this book to present the information on the use of library resources and services by the university students, their satisfaction with regard to various sources, services, and facilities provided by university libraries namely Andhra University Library, Vishakapatnam, Sri Venkateswara University Library, Tirupati and Osmania University Library, Hyderabad.

The study reveals that 100% of agricultural university library websites provided information About Institutions, Library Timing, Contact, Copyright, Visitors, Books, E-Resources, E-Library, and about 80% of agricultural universities provided information about Location, About library, News and Events, Media gallery, Publication, Site search Journal, Dissertation, Back Volume, New Arrival, and Internet , it is found from the study that 1 Average of agricultural university libraries subscribing e-journals, e-books, and e-databases, X2 Value (15.42797,P=0.973555) and 60% of agricultural universities Provided Face book and YouTube facilities. Use of Web-Based Library Services in Mysore City Engineering Colleges in Karnataka, India: A Study

This paper focusses on the Use of Web-Based Library Services in Mysore City Engineering Colleges. The study covers Web-Based Reference, Acquisition, Circulation, Cataloguing, Periodical Services, ILL/Document delivery services, problems in accessing Webbased library services by users of engineering college libraries of Mysuru city. We were also consulted to design the questionnaire. A well-designed questionnaire was an issue to engineering college's students in Mysuru city. Altogether 300 questionnaires were issued personally to users of engineering college's students of Mysuru city and 250 were collected with a response rate of 83.3%. Essential statistical techniques (SPSS) and methods will be used to examine the research data. The results given in table 7.8 reveal that (P<.000) there is a significant difference in miscellaneous services 'Online general library policies'. It is observed that highest respondents scoring 136(54.4%) say 'highly useful' and only few accounting replayed 3(1.2%) of them state 'moderately useful' with highest mean value of 4.30 and SD being .980.

Evaluation of Library Infrastructure and Information Services for the User Satisfaction in Special Reference to ATPDC-CIPET Madurai Library, Government of India: A study

ABSTRACT Advanced Tooling and Plastics Product Development Centre (ATPDC) is Unit of Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) Madurai is under Ministry of chemical and petrochemicals government of India. The ATPDC –CIPET Libraries have a major role to play in organizing information sources, arranging all types of access, bibliographic access, physical access, intellectual access and networked access to resources that help the users to find and use the information easily. This research analysis the encouragement provided for the students in library facilities and financial support for the creation of necessary infrastructure to pursue their research, publish research finding in Journal, Present their research finding in national or international conferences, present papers in seminars and also it paves a way to attend seminar and workshops that can enhance their personal growth. Libraries should be equipped with updated collection of information and services to current requirements of students, faculty and others. The Research measures and evaluates the infrastructure and information services which are provided to the users and suggests valid methods to make the library user friendly, rich information provider and career development organizer. Comparative Study of Academic Libraries of Selected Higher Educational Institutions in Motihari City, Bihar (India)

Purpose-This paper aims to know the library resources, library services and facilities provided by the higher education academic libraries to their users, find out their problems in delivering better services to users, followed by the best possible suggestions for overall improvement and development of the libraries of selected higher educational institutions in Motihari, Bihar. Design/Methodology/Approach-To accomplish the objectives of the study, data has been collected through a structured questionnaire consisting of several questions keeping in mind the objectives of the study, followed by personal interviews with librarians or In-charge of the libraries and visits to the selected libraries. Questionnaires were filled by the librarians or incharge of the libraries chosen for study. The quantitative and qualitative both methods were employed to analyse the collected data, and a conclusion is drawn with suitable &amp; achievable suggestions as well. Findings-The study reveals that libraries of all selected higher educational institutions in Motihari have a good collection of library resources and provide user-oriented library services to their users. Research limitations/implications-The study is confined to Academic libraries of selected higher educational institutions viz, Central university and state university colleges situated in Motihari and affiliated to the University Grants Commission (UGC). The study examines the resources, services and facilities available in libraries for their users, in this drastically changing environment. Originality/value – The study is unique in its own way as all the studies have been conducted on the use of public &amp; academic library resources &amp; services by its users, but the comparison of academic libraries of higher educational institutions in eastern Indian states, especially in Bihar type state, where literacy rate is still meagre, is still untouched and the present study is an effort put forward to fill this gap. In addition, this study will be also helpful for the other academic libraries to adopt new trends &amp; technology-based services and some suggestions to ensure better services to their users.

The Utilization of Information Resources and Services Among Users of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Central Library of Mahatma Gandhi Central University (MGCU), Motihari, Bihar with Special Reference to ICT Applications: A Study

This study deals with utilizing available information resources and services among users of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Central Library of Mahatma Gandhi Central University (MGCU), Motihari, Bihar, with special reference to Information Communication Technology (ICT) applications. The study's major objectives are to know the users' frequency of library visits, the purpose of their library visit, identify users' satisfaction levels regarding library resources and services, find out the major problems encountered by the users, and know the users' suggestions etc. The study was conducted through a questionnaire-based survey method. The primary data was collected through a structured questionnaire which was circulated randomly among 120 library users. The data has been analyzed using standard statistical techniques based on filled-up questionnaires. The study reveals that the majority of users visit the library almost daily and spend at least one hour in the library. The maximum percentage of users visit the library for the purpose of issuing & returning the books. Most of the users are familiar with the information resources and services of the library. But, a lot of users are not satisfied with available information resources and ICT-based services at the library. This study is unique and new because very few studies have been conducted on this newly established Central Library of MGCU. Thus, it is an effort to fill the gap and study the utilization of information resources and services from users' perspectives. This study will be also helpful for other academic libraries to provide better ICT-based services to their users and fulfil their information resources and services need.

DELHI UNIVERSITY LIBRARY WEBSITE: AN EVALUATIVE STUDY

Good content distinguish the website from the search engines as it delivers the right information to satisfy the user information need. The success of website is determined primarily by its content. In this electronic era, websites have become the popular source for communication. Libraries are no exception when it comes to providing the right information at the right time to the right person without any technological barriers. In this study, three webometric techniques have been used to evaluate Delhi University Library Website. These techniques include Web Indicators, Web Analyzer Test Score and Web Impact Factors. Nearly 57 percent of essential indicators were found missing in this website. It has obtained highest score in Information Block i.e. 65 percent and lowest score in Resource Block i.e. 21.42 percent. Seven web analyzers tests score zero these are Twitter, Headings, Facebook, Analytics, Printability, Broken Links and W3C compliance. The results of the study will be beneficial for the librarians for evaluating their library websites. The study has also provided some suggestions how to improve the quality of the library websites. The study concluded that Library Websites play a crucial role in the institution growth therefore there is a need of an hour to raise the quality of these websites by applying various evaluating techniques on them.
