Study of Electronic Medical Records
Journal of emerging technologies and innovative research, 2021
The Electronic Medical Records System is trending right now but some of the hospitals or government-based hospitals are still using old methods to store, maintain and retrieve patient records. Some government-based clinics are using a paper-based approach to store patient records because they still don't have software or an electronic system that can maintain their patient records. In this paper, we discuss how they can migrate from paper-based records to electronic records storing methods and the challenges or rules, they need to phase to convert their system from paper-based to paperless. In this paper, we are discussing the existing Electronic Medical Records system and what we need to improve in the upcoming Electronic Medical Records System so that next-generation systems are much improved than previous ones.
A Review: Electronic Medical Records (EMR) System for Clinical Data Storage at health centers
ijcta.com
With a growing population and an increase in the number of patients, the pressure on doctors and hospital staff has increased severely. At first, traditionally when patient used to visit hospitals his information was stored on papers. The use of Information technology in Healthcare brought a revolution in capturing data of patient .EMR is a collection of data of a patient in electronic format for medical care. It helps the doctors as well as hospital staff to provide better care & service for patie nt as it has all the information about the patient past visit, medications, and lab reports etc.In this paper we review EMR implementation and EMR tools used in various hospitals in different countries. Also impact of EMR on administrative staff, Physicians, nurses etc, and identifies the benefits, limits and importance of EMR for clinical data storage and research.
A Study on the Status of Patient Data Handling: Current Scenario and Future Recommendations
IJCSIS Vol 17 No 2, 2019
Abstract— Day by day different types of new diseases are faced by human in different stages of their age. For preventing and reducing these diseases, various health-care system and patient data handling system are introduced with rapid rising of technology. The aim of this research is to find different types of latest technology for handling patient data in an efficient manner. With the increased of medical data various problem are created such as to collect and preserve data for further analysis; give proper treatment for different patient; collect medical data from different places and integrate them into a single framework; give security and manage different databases; provide real time data monitoring system; data transmission through on-line process; management different database; maintaining diabetes, mental pressure, wright measurement, loss of hearing capability. These problems can be solved by using modern technology such as health management system, electronic health record (EHR), cloud based hybrid database system of NoSQL, Internet of things (IoT), on-line transaction processing (OLTP), hadoop and Map Reduce model, big data management framework, data mining, intelligent weight management system (iWMS), CVOTION approach, e-health and telemedicine. The main objectives of this paper is to analyze different modern technology for patient data handling and compare them for finding which technology is more efficient. This research finally recommends the technology with which we can handle patient data more conveniently. Keywords— ehr; health-care; hadoop; nosql; iot; oltp; diabetes; iwms; telemedicine; big data.
Information technology has become increasingly important in everyday’s life, especially in the medical field. Various engineering concepts have been developed specifically for medical imaging applications. Few of the application domains are disease diagnosis in medical images, effective utilisation of resources, power optimisation in health centres and medical data transmission through wired/wireless media. The application of information technology in these areas has been encouraged by all walks of the people across the globe. The numerous advantages of these technologies have not only made the life simple but also efficient. However, there are many areas left unexplored in medical informatics which shows the availability of scope for improvement. This special issue especially focuses on bringing out the hidden challenges of medical informatics field and possible solutions for such problems. This issue also encourages researchers in the allied area of medical informatics to put in the innovative ideas for solving the various problems of human society.
The role of medical informatics in the management of medical information
The Journal of Medical Investigation, 2020
With progress in information and communication technology, medical information has been converted to digital formats and stored and managed using computer systems. The construction, management, and operation of medical information systems and regional medical liaison systems are the main components of the clinical tasks of medical informatics departments. Research using medical information accumulated in these systems is also a task for medical informatics department. Recently, medical real-world data (RWD) accumulated in medical information systems has become a focus not only for primary use but also for secondary uses of medical information. However, there are many problems, such as standardization, collection, cleaning, and analysis of them. The internet of things and artificial intelligence are also being applied in the collection and analysis of RWD and in resolving the above problems. Using these new technologies, progress in medical care and clinical research is about to enter a new era.
Processing of medical data in the light of new technological and legal challenges
JOURNAL OF PUBLIC HEALTH, NURSING AND MEDICAL RESCUE, 2019
Introduction. The modern health care system is functioning in the era of dynamic development of technology of processing increasing resources of knowledge and information. It is carried out both in diagnostics and in processes directly related to the performance of medical procedures thanks to improvements in health data processing techniques. At the same time, a largescale support of both knowledge resources and organizational processes is provided by specially adapted computer systems. Systems belonging to the socalled artificial intelligence are emerging. All these phenomena are related to the generation of more and more data and information about the patient's health. The aim of the study. The aim of the study was to discuss the most important problems concerning the safety of medical data in the light of new technological and legal challenges.Selection of material. The search was conducted in the Scopus database using the following terms: medical data security, IT technologi...
Emerging Trends of Digital Healthcare Management
EDUCATION TIMES, 2018
Health care is the conservation and improvement of health by way of the diagnosis, treatment, prevention of disease, illness, injury, and other physical and mental impairments in human beings. The use of binary language (digitization) has revolutionized the healthcare. It has always been a human endeavour to find new techniques of health care and this has led to the amalgamation of information technology and health care. Benefits of digitization are now being reaped in diverse areas. Advance Imaging techniques like MRI and CAT scan use complex algorithms to process tremendous amount of data generated by sensors producing a useable image for professionals. Robotics surgery relies on advance and complex algorithms to enhance accuracy and minimize damage. Bioinformatics has achieved success in sequence analysis, genome annotation, analysis of gene expression etc. Health informatics has revolutionized acquisition, storage, retrieval, and use of information in health and biomedicine. It is the digital technology through which we achieved complete DNA sequencing of all 6 billion bases of a diploid human genome in 2 hours at a very small price. The benefits of DNA sequencing are unimaginable like in medicine for specific gene-drug interactions, targeting of cancer therapy by defining tumor driver mutations (comparing somatic versus germ-line DNA), and demystifying life-threatening idiopathic diseases. We can even use this information to defeat the ever worrying problem of ageing and can even become immortal. Digital revolution gave birth to Public Health Informatics which deals with public health practice, research and learning. The present paper gives an insight regarding the use of various Information technology tools in health care.
