TETRAHYDROFURAN-3,3-BIS(CHLOROMETHYL)-OXETANE COPOLYMERIZATION CATALYZED BY (i-Bu) ,Al* Copolymerization of tetrahydrofuran (THF) with 3,3-bis(chloromethyl)oxetane (BCMO) had been studied previously, the reactivity ratios found at different conditions are given in Table I (THF = MI, BCMO = M,). The ceiling temperature T, in THF polymerization is 7O-8O0C. (5a,b) and, therefore, the depolymerization reactions should alter the surements but from copolymer composition or ratio of monomers consumption. The dependence of the overall rate of reaction on the BCMO/THF ratio is the second problem to be discussed here. The rate dependence was studied for epichlorohydrin-THF (6) and trioxane-dioxolane pairs (7). In the first c a s e the more basic monomer was slower in homopolymerization, for the latter the opposite took place. The copolymer i s , a s a rule, enriched by the more basic monomer (8). reactivity ratios" if they are not determined directly from kinetic mea
