Self-Inflating Tyre Pressure Safety System Suitable for the Automotive Industry (original) (raw)

Study of Self Inflating Tyre System

2020

Driven by studies that show that a drop in tyre pressure by just a few PSI(pound per square inch) can result in the reduction of gas mileage, tyre life, safety, and vehicle performance, this study developed an automatic, self-inflating tyre system that ensures that tyres are properly inflated at all times. The design proposes and successfully implements the use of a centralized compressor that will supply air to all four tyres via hoses and a rotary joint fixed between the wheel spindle and wheel hub at each wheel. The rotary joints effectively allow air to be channeled to the tyres without the tangling of hoses. With the recent oil price hikes and growing concern of environmental issues, this system addresses a potential improvement in gas mileage; tyre wear reduction; and an increase in handling and tyre performance in diverse conditions.

A Review: Automatic Tyre Inflanation System

In ancient time, after the discovery of wheel by man, it has been used extensively for various purposes and it is vital part of human life for ages. These wheels runs human life faster and faster with new technology and one such technology is on board air inflation system used in automobiles. Tyres are the second-highest cost for the trucking industry. The on board air inflation system is used to maintain the pressure of tyres in running condition. The environmental conditions varies according to region, seasons because of this, it require maintaining the tyres pressure for better performance according to conditions. The most important application of this system is in military vehicle. For the military vehicle, the environmental condition, land conditions are continuously varying and they have to face very worst condition like heavy rainfall, snowfall, deserts. At that remote place no such devices are available for maintenances of the tyres. At some crucial times like war conditions or any flood conditions there is no time to filling the air. Thus there arises a need for automatic tyre inflation system. This can be done by employing appropriate technique. This project deals with the design and fabrication of automatic tyre inflation system.

Automatic Tyre Inflation System

2014

This project aims to develop and fabrication of an automatic tyre inflating system, this system ensures that tyres are properly inflated at all times. Roads are the most important modes of transport, now a days cars are integral part of it. Tyres lose air through normal driving-especially when run through pot holes and permeation. Considering today's ever increasing environmental threats; oil price hikes and energy consumption our system is most compatible and potential improvement in gas mileage and tyre wear reduction which leads to an increase in performance of tyre in diverse conditions. Moreover temperature changes are also one of the reason due to which tyres lose air. Thus vehicles run with an under-inflated tyre which may cause accidents. Studies show that a drop in tyre pressure by just a few PSI, can result in the reduction of gas mileage, tyre life, safety, and vehicle performance. The project aims to restore the tyre pressure on vehicles so that they are kept at optimum pressure levels, thus extending their life time at the same time saving the owner from fuel costs and maintenance cost incurred with underinflated tyres. DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF AUTOMATIC TYRE PRESSURE INFLATION SYSTEM

Industrial Engineering Journal, 2024

The main aim of our project is to achieve accurate tyre pressure. This is achieved by introducing an automated system for tyre inflation. This system checks the tyre pressure regularly and inflates automatically to the correct tyre pressure. Proper tyre inflation pressure improves fuel economy, reduces braking distance, improves handling, and increases tyre life, while underinflation creates overheating and can lead to accidents. Approximately 3/4 of all automobiles operate with at least one underinflated tyre. The main causes of underinflation are natural leakage, temperature changes, and road hazards. Drivers typically do not check tyre pressure unless they notice unusual vehicle performance. Visual checks are often insufficient to determine under-inflation. In 2000, the U.S. Transportation Recall Enhancement, Accountability, and Documentation Act (TREAD) requested that the National Highway Transport Safety Authority (NHTSA) investigate the implementation of a pressure drop warning system on vehicles. Beginning with 2006 models, all passenger cars and trucks in the United States are required to have tyre-pressure inflation systems (TPMSs). A TPMS is a driver-assist system that warns the driver when the tyre pressure is below or above the prescribed limits.

Protecting of Automotive Vehicle Tyre by Maintaining the Pressure in Tyre through Pressure Monitoring System

Tire is the most essential part of automobile and it plays crucial role in ensuring safe driving. Even then, almost every automobile on the road run with either one or more under inflated tires. Detailed survey has come with result that drop in tire pressure by just few psi leads to the reduction in gas mileage, tire life ,safe driving and vehicle performance. Unawareness of exact pressure requirement, sudden environmental changes are also some of causes for tire running with improper pressure. Automatic tire pressure controlling and self-inflating system ensures correct pressure in the tire all the time. Drop in pressure is detected by hissing sound made by tire and system will starts refilling the tire automatically according to the requirement of the tire. This system is named automatic because it checks the tire pressure constantly using pressure gauge and accordingly gives alert signals to the driver. Aim of this project is to stabilize all automobile tires with ideal pressure, make system absolutely automatic, achieve satisfactory fuel efficiency, construct an affordable system, increase tire life and reduce accident rate has been achieved by installing the system in vehicle.

AUTOMATIC TYRE INFLATION SYSTEM IN DYNAMIC CONDITION

In today's growing world, the possibilities of road accidents of any automobile are increasing at an alarming rate. The reasons for these happenings are the puncturing of tyres, when the vehicle is at very fast speeds due to any reason and because of that the driver loses his control over the vehicle. Many studies have revealed that a drop in the tyre pressure by a few PSI results in the following: • Reduction in the fuel economy • Reduction of tyre life • Reduces safety and performance of the vehicle We have hence developed an automatic, self-inflating tyre system which will ensure that the tyres are properly inflated all the time. In our design, we have made the use of an air compressor that will store compressed air in an air tank at the desired pressure value which in turn will supply air to all the four tyres through hoses and rotary joint fixed between wheel hub and knuckle of each wheel. The use of rotary joint is to efficiently allow the air to be channelled to all the tyres without the tangling of hoses. With the current environmental issues and fast depletion of natural resources our project will successfully improve the overall fuel economy of the vehicle along with the increased tyre life and improved vehicle handling. Design of an automatic tyre pressure inflation system for small vehicles

The advent of the tyre/automotive industry brought to a halt the savage days of long journeying by foot and suddenly introduced quick inter-city visits whilst the traveler is seated. In a bid to improve and perfect this modern way of journeying this paper focuses on the optimization of the automobile, subject matter being the effective and proper maintenance of the tyre so as to curb the disappointment of failing to travel due to underinflated tyres. The design presented in the report herein functions to restore the tyre pressure on vehicles so that they are kept at optimum pressure levels, thus extending their life time at the same time saving the owner from fuel costs and maintenance cost incurred with underinflated tyres. It constitutes of a wind driven turbine-compressor unit which uses drag wind as source of drive to a turbine and quickly converts it to rotational energy which powers a small compressor that feeds the tyre with pressurized air whenever the need arises. The system is monitored and controlled by a Java/Android program which detects low pressure and initiates compressor ON / OFF states. The system is environmentally friendly releasing zero gases and is self-sustaining using independent power source from that of the vehicle itself.

Automatic Air Inflation in Vehicle Tyre

The main aim of this paper is to develop an Automatic Air Inflation in Vehicle Tyre. This can be placed in all automobiles while long drives and that can be utilized while climbing up hills or down hills. It is very necessary for every automobile to be cautious while driving through long distances. So, we have fabricated this machine to fill the air automatically by using control units. Main aim of this project is that when the air is decreased to the automobile vehicles then the sensor signal alert the person for usage of air tank to fill the air in the tyre. Then the air pressure will get increased in the tyre of the vehicle it is same as the process of indicating the sensor signal through the person using solenoid valve to reduce the excess air in the tyre.

Mathematical Modelling and Conceptual Design of Novel Automatic Tyre Inflating System

Jurnal Teknologi, 2018

Pneumatic tyres release 10-15 kPa of air pressure every month requires regular topping up. Vehicles run with improper tyre pressure has been identified as one of the primary factors which leads into major and catastrophic road accidents due to puncture and explosion. The main aim of this research work is to design a pressure chamber for an Automatic Tyre Inflating System (ATIS) to replenish the pressure loss of a pneumatic tyre. In this paper, a model has been developed to mathematically derive the critical amount of required pressurized air for ATIS intermediary chamber design. Finite element analysis was also performed onto the designed chamber considering critical engineering elements to ensure safe operation with the pressure of 8449kPa. ATIS is postulated to automatically replenish adequate amount of pressurised air into the tyre when the tyre pressure drops 10% below the desired pressure. Thus, the air loss from the tyre can be continuously compensated for 12 months to have them running with safe pressure at all time without having human intervention to inflate them.
