This study focuses on the sources that create mental make-ups of different sets of people besides exploring the interface between their religious/ ethical beliefs and health problems. Three groups of people have been identified: a) those who govern themselves by the literal interpretation of the scriptures and try to adhere to it at the cost of their lives b) those who interpret the text by going beyond the literal meaning of the text to take advantage of the latest knowledge in the field of medicines c) those who do not allow any scriptural knowledge to interfere in their ways of life and thinking. The third group tries to out manoeuvre the other two by adopting various pressure tactics and showing little respect for their freedom of faith/ religion, right to self-determination, human rights and free-will. Such persons get perplexed during the times of crisis when the science/ technology does not offer any solution. It becomes problematic for them to live happily during the days of epidemics and pandemics as they have nothing to fall back upon to derive hope. The Hindus have had a traditional holistic life-pattern but in the modern nation-state that India is the Hindus are under tremendous pressure to change their ways in the name of rationality and science.

The representation of religiosity practices among covid 19 diseases 1

International Journal of Psychosocial Rehabilitation, 2020

Novel Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) originating from China has rapidly crossed borders, infecting people throughout the whole world. This phenomenon has led to a massive public reaction; the media has been reporting continuously across borders to keep all informed about the pandemic situation. All these things are creating a lot of concern for people leading to heightened levels of anxiety. This paper focus of social Muslim ummah that different from the generation of prophet Muhammad s.a.w when it comes to observing voluntary worship practices in Novel Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) disease. After prophet Muhammad s.a.w and the following salaf generation, religious practices of the Muslim ummah have been polarized by the discipline of the fiqh knowledge. Most Muslims have misunderstood this discipline of knowledge. Muslims do not just make fiqh as a matter of ruling in carrying out a practice, but fiqh has been turned into a position to carry out a practice. An example is the prayer in congregation where in the perspective of fiqh, it is a non-obligatory act and just a voluntary deed. Voluntary is defined as something that if it is done, one will be rewarded for it but it also does not matter if one were to abandon it. People who are dependent on rulings would psychologically find it easy to leave the congregation prayer, because the ruling states that it is okay to do so as long as the obligatory prayer is still performed. What this means is people perform such deeds not to follow the context of the people during the time of prophet Muhammad s.a.w, but because they preferred the ruling context set by the fiqh. There is a need to intensify the awareness and address the religiosity issues of people during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Faith and Covid 19 Pandemic Crisis

During the COVID-19 outbreak, most religious places in the world are closed down for months together. Many religious leaders and communities of faith have canceled their services and other gatherings for quite some time. In many nations, such gatherings are already prohibited or discouraged. There are many versions of the status of faith for people in this unprecedented humanitarian crisis. Some of them believe that the lockdown of the place of worship has impacted their faith also. Some believe that this is a transit phase to curb the spreading of the virus and this will finally help mankind in the long run. This paper is based on an empirical study conducted to determine the impact of the Covid 19 Pandemic on individual faith. The globe has been undergoing one of the most severe crises in human history. The Corona virus-induced Covid 19 pandemic is changing the world's demographics and psychographics, and we are watching history in the making. We've also seen harsh lockdown regimes in several countries.

Religious Interpretation, Well Being, and Formation of Religious Attitudes on Covid-19 Survivors

journal at tamaddun, 2022

This article explains the attitude of social groups who have been declared exposed to the Covid-19 virus and are undergoing isolation facilitated by the government for 6-10 days until they are declared cured. Because they undergo quarantine with strict controls, they leave their main obligations as family breadwinners or professional workers. In a situation that is completely restricted, they have no alternative but to accept and undergo all procedures and stages of quarantine until they are completed. The article data comes from several Covid-19 patients participating in quarantine in Banyumas district in February 2022. Using a sociological approach and religious interpretation, the attitude of accepting the quarantine situation points to two things, first, religion is present in people who experience powerlessness as a result of the dysfunction of science and technology. Second, in this situation of powerlessness, religion is present to offer solutions that are beyond reality or transcendental. From these two situations, the social groups participating in the Covid-19 quarantine gave rise to religious attitudes which in the perspective of religious interpretation are understood as the practice of the teachings of gratitude, patience, trustworthiness, prayer, wisdom, and ihtiyar.
