Purpose:-The purpose of the study is to imbibe awareness of physiotherapy as a subject of choice similar to other medical fraternity and its importance in health care among high school students. Objective:-This study is to promote awareness of physiotherapy as a subject of choice similar to other medical fraternity and its importance in health care among high school students. Methods:-It is a crossectional study design with a sample size of 1000 high school students Results:-In the survey done about the awareness of physiotherapy as a course it is very abashing to recognize that many of the students are unaware of physiotherapy its treatment methods, infrastructure ,it contains and their usage and role of physiotherapy as eminent part of treatment in variety of cases, thereby their ignorance in choosing physiotherapy as a subject . Discussion:-The result of the present study seems to draw our attention to the fact that still many high school students are unaware of physiotherapy as a course to pursue.

Background: In the healthcare sector, professions like those of Doctors and Nurses are well known than the other paramedical professions like Physiotherapy. However, the physiotherapist plays a major role in providing health care and it is a highly recognized profession worldwide. Physiotherapists work in a wide-ranging of health settings including Cardio-Pulmonary, Neurological and Orthopedic Conditions, occupational health and Ergonomic factors, sports Injuries and care of the elderly. The aim of this study was to assess the level of awareness about physiotherapy among high school students and to assess the sources form which they could obtain information regarding physiotherapy. Need Of The Study: When planning one's future career, it is important to have information about various occupations and professions that are related to his/her field of study. Even though a few people have an idea about their future career pathways in advance, majority of them are uncertain about it. For most people, these plans are usually made during their early and late adolescence. A majority of school children are also unaware about career opportunities open to them and most of them analyse their career prospects by looking at the social status of the occupation of their choice and the opportunities for career development. Students choose physiotherapy as a Optional that after they get don't enough score to get MBBS and other known field, here need arise to know about the Physiotherapy profession as a Mandatory for every aspects of life process. Methodology: A survey was implemented in this study. The study was undertaken with the help of a Questionnaire which was distributed to 131 higher secondary students with biology as elective subject. Result: The overall awareness about physiotherapy was approximately 53.38%. The true answer rates for these questions were 25% and 45.9% respectively. 9.16% of the study population was not aware of treatment methods used in physiotherapy, and 36% did not know when to meet a physiotherapist. 21.37% of students were unaware about the uses of physiotherapy in other disease conditions than sports injuries, mainly in chest conditions like bronchitis (37%). Conclusion: The students have a moderate awareness about Physiotherapy; the awareness about the role of Physiotherapy in specialties other than orthopaedics is less satisfactory.
Perception and Awareness of Physiotherapy in Junior College Students

Introduction: Physiotherapy is an emerging field in healthcare with innumerable benefits and its demand continues to increase. Often asked what physical therapy is and what does a physiotherapist do? It is very difficult to restrict its definition to a few words since the profession is holistic in approach. The junior college students are eligible to pursue Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree. It is important to have awareness regarding the profession that is related to their field of interest. Method: The cross sectional study was undertaken with the help of Google form which was distributed to 280 junior college students with biology as elective subject. Data was collected and statistically analyzed. Results: 97.1% know physiotherapy as a health care profession. 53.9% think that they need a referral from a doctor to visit a physiotherapist. Most of them got the information about the field from their relatives and doctors. 73.6% will consider it as a profession. Conclusion: This study concludes that there is high awareness among the students of junior college but the perception about the field is varied.
Awareness in Physiotherapy among High School Students
The demand to the physiotherapy continues to increase, due to the increasing of aging population. The University Grant Commission (UGC) has started degree program in physiotherapy to address this demand in 2007, by providing high school level science students to enter this program based on the grade achieved from the advanced level exam. The aim of this study was to assess the level of awareness about physiotherapy among advanced level science students in the Kandy educational zone and to assess the sources form which they could obtain information regarding physiotherapy. A structured survey consisting of three parts was used, and eight hundred and fifteen high school level Sinhala medium science students from nine schools in Kandy zone in Sri Lanka were approached. Of these, Seven hundred and seventy six completed questionnaires were returned (95% response rate). The students were not much aware of physiotherapy as a career, treatment method and its applications in disease conditions other than sports injuries. Television, internet, and newspapers/magazine were the most cited source of information for physiotherapy. There is a need for a programme to educate the general public in Sri Lanka about Physiotherapy both as a therapeutic modality and as a prospective career pathway
A Survey on Level of Awareness of Physiotherapy as a Career Option among Private School Students
Background: High school students have a far-reaching discernment when it comes to opting a vocation this is because decisions made in the senior year of school concretes their future. Physiotherapy is a health-maintenance craft that necessitate appraisal and drawing out a diagnosis to heal deterioration, improve vigor, and hence improve standard of living. This study evaluated the perception of high school students about physiotherapy as a profession and career option. Methodology: Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria 200 high school students were selected using cluster sampling. Outcome measures used a self-made questionnaire sculpted as Google form which was sent to students from standard IX to XII. Bearing physiotherapy as an option within health sciences domain in mind, various types of questions specific to physiotherapy department, its practice areas, and the course study were put forth to these students through the online questionnaire. Results: The percentage of students who considered physiotherapy as a career option in medicine was 59% but, 72.5% were not aware of the eligibility criteria for entering a physiotherapy degree program and 73.5% did not know about the pathological conditions treated in physical therapy although, 81% agreed that physical therapy is effective in reducing pain. Mixed opinions were noted on physical therapy as profession as good (46.5%), very good (24%), excellent (23%) and not good (6.5%). Conclusion: Conclusion of above study is that the awareness among students of senior secondary section of private schools across the city of Ludhiana in Punjab is less than half of the percentage in most of the questions of surveyed population. None of the students were able to complete the whole questionnaire perfectly.
Secondary school students’ knowledge of physiotherapy as a profession

Background: Physiotherapy plays a significant role in the health care system. The pursuit of a career in any profession by secondary school students depends largely on the availability of information about the practice and prospects of the profession. This study aimed at investigating whether secondary school students know about physiotherapy as a profession. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional survey involving eight hundred and two senior secondary school students in Maiduguri. Multi-stage and systematic random sampling techniques were used in selecting thirty schools in Maiduguri whose students participated in this study. A 37-item questionnaire from previous literature comprising of socio-demographic characteristics of participants, knowledge of participants about physiotherapy as a course, knowledge of participants about physiotherapists' tasks and characteristics, and sources of their information about physiotherapy, was adapted for this study. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics. Results: Responses of eight hundred and two participants, 446 female and 356 males with a mean age of 16.90±2.22 were included in this study. More than half of the participants (59.1%) had a high knowledge of physiotherapy as a career. The most common sources of information about physiotherapy were from a family member (48.5%), a movie (54.7%), and the school career counsellor (54.5%). Conclusions: Half of the participants demonstrated a high level of knowledge of physiotherapy as a profession whereas a good number seemed to have little or no knowledge about the physiotherapy profession. The physiotherapy professional body should work towards increasing the level of knowledge of physiotherapy practice by creating avenues for career talks and awareness programs.
AWARENESS AND ATTITUDE TOWARDS PHYSIOTHERAPY AMONG HIGHER SECONDARY STUDENTS: A PILOT SURVEY STUDY
Background: Physiotherapy is a health care profession. Physiotherapy plays a significant role in all levels of health. The higher secondary students are potential students for Bachelor of Physiotherapy programme. It is important to have good awareness and positive attitude about various occupation and professions that are related to his/her field of study. This study aimed at identifying the awareness level and their attitude about the profession which may provide adequate information to strategize the measures to enhance it further. Objective: To study the awareness and attitude about Physiotherapy among higher secondary students. Materials and Methods: A survey was conducted using a questionnaire that was modified and adapted with permission from a similar study done by Thusharike D. Dissanyaka. Forty five higher secondary students with science group from Sakthi tuition center, Thanjavur participated in this study. The questionnaire was analyzed and interpreted. Results: Only 9% aware of all four (Manual therapy, Ice/heat therapy, hydrotherapy, electrotherapy & exercise therapy) components of Physiotherapy. The most commonly known treatment means of Physiotherapy is manual therapy followed by exercise therapy and electrotherapy and the least awareness is about hydrotherapy technique. The highest number of respondents (80%) replied Physiotherapy is used in musculoskeletal conditions, and only 17% replied Physiotherapy is used in peadiatrics. Conclusion and Clinical Implication: The awareness about the profession is less satisfactory. Appropriate measures have to be taken to increase the awareness and create a good attitude towards the Physiotherapy profession .

OBJECTIVE To determine the awareness and perception of Physical Therapy as a career among the intermediate students of Karachi. STUDY DESIGN It is a cross sectional study. STUDY SETTINGS AND PARTICIPANTS The settings of this study were two Private and two Government sector Intermediate colleges, offering Pre-medical and participants were students studying in these colleges. SAMPLING TECHNIQUE Non-probability convenience sampling technique. RESULTS Results revealed that only 13.5% of students were well aware of physical therapy as a profession in government and private colleges whereas, 31% in government colleges and 26.5% in private colleges had little knowledge. While 28% government and 30.5% in private were totally unaware of it. 75.7% and 83.5% from government and private sector students responded that physical therapy will be most rewarded in Orthopedic/Musculoskeletal fields respectively. Physiotherapy is a health care profession that helps in the treatment of various impairments and disabilities. According to Chartered Society of Physiotherapy it is a dynamic profession which uses a range of treatment techniques to restore movement and function within the body. They also work to combat a broad range of physical problems, in particular those associated with neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and respiratory systems. According to World Confederation for Physical, Physiotherapy is an internationally recognised health profession which may be practiced by qualified and, where required by state or national legislation duly registered or licensed physiotherapists only. Physiotherapy is an essential part of health care delivery system 1 , it is practiced independently of other health care providers and also within inter-disciplinary rehabilitation programs for the restoration of optimal function and quality of life in individuals with loss and disorders of movement 2, 3 . Physiotherapy is a growing profession in Anand city, Gujarat.

Materials and methods: The cross sectional study was undertaken with the help of a Questionnaire which was distributed to 329 higher secondary students with biology as elective subject. Data was collected and statistically analyzed. Result: 48% students said Physiotherapy is part of medical course, 65.6% students knew the role of physiotherapy in orthopedic conditions, 54% participants thought that physiotherapist cannot be the first contact practitioner, 47% participants said that they can prescribe medicine, 62% thought average income of physiotherapist per month is more than Rs20, 000 and 34% received information through professionals.46% students wanted to pursue Physiotherapy as their career. Conclusion: The study indicated that higher secondary students of Nagpur city are still not completely aware of the scope of physiotherapy profession. Professionals and mass media have been identified as the major source of information about the profession. Appropriate measures have to be taken to create a good attitude towards the profession through these influential sources.
