Abstract

This workshop introduces participants to the diversity and curiosities of the fungi kingdom. It includes an interactive and illustrated seminar on the major fungal groups, the natural and cultural history of fungi, and their significance in ecosystem function. This is followed by a hands-on, interactive session where we will examine, handle and identify specimens brought along by participants and the presenter. Participants will learn the important characteristics and techniques for identifying fungi using one's senses and various resources including field guides and keys.Participants are actively encouraged to bring specimens to the workshop. The workshop will be held indoors at the Trentham Neighbourhood House. Afternoon tea and supplementary notes are provided. Time: 12:00 - 16:30.
