Teaching Writing in Recount Text by Using Please Strategy to the High School Students

Writing is one of the four major skills and it is important because it needs a number of activities: setting goals, generating ideas, organizing information, selecting appropriate language, making a draft, reading and reviewing it, then revising and editing. The objective of the study was to find out whether or not there was any significant difference on students' writing skill in recount text between the tenth grade students who were taught by using PLEASE strategy and those who were not. The population of the study was tenth grade students of SMAN 11 Palembang in the academic year 2016/2017. In doing the study, the writer did the experimental method by using quasiexperimental design to the two groups of students. The X IPA 5 class became the experimental group and the X IPS 2 became the control group. The two classes were chosen because they had the same level of competency in learning English. A test was the instrument for collecting the data. The test was administered twice, as the pre-test and post-test. The result showed that PLEASE strategy had a significant effect on the students' writing skill.

PLEASE (Pick, List, Evaluate, Activate, Supply, and End) Strategy Toward Student’s Writing Achievement on Recount Text

The thesis entitled "The Influence of Using PLEASE (Pick, List, Evaluate, Activate, Supply And End) Strategy Toward Student's Writing Achievement on Recount Text at The Tenth Grade of SMA Pangudi Luhur Sukaraja". The problem of this study as follows "Is there any significant differences between the students who are taught by using the PLEASE strategy and who are not taught by using the PLEASE strategy toward student's wri ting achievement on recount text at the tenth grade of SMA Pangudi Luhur Sukaraja?". In this study, the writer used a quasi-experimental design. The population in this study was the tenth-grade students of SMA Pangudi Luhur Sukaraja, with the total of the population was 64 students. Whereas, the sample of the study was 40 students were taken by using purposive sampling, those were 20 students of X IPS 1 as experimental group and 20 students of X IPS 2 as the control group. Moreover, the writer used a written test. The data obtained from Independent t-test analysis, between the result of the post-test in experimental class and control class. Based on the calculation by using an Independent t-test, the researcher found that tobtained was higher than ttable (6.211> 1.697) at the significance level ɑ = 0.05 in a two-tailed test. So, the Null Hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It can be concluded that there was any significant difference in teaching writing by using PLEASE Strategy in SMA Pangudi Luhur.

Improving Students’ Writing Ability Through Quick Writing Strategy to the Eleventh Graders of Sma Muhammadiyah Pagaralam

Improving Writing Proficiency through The 3M (Meniru-Mengolah-Mengembangkan) Writing Strategy for Grade VI SD Negeri 8 Kilensari Panarukan Sub-District of Situbondo District in 2014/2015 Academic Year

Students have a different level of prose writing proficiency. Some students are already able to write a prose pretty well while some others are not. This condition is aggravated by students' low motivation in writing. Therefore, an effective writing learning strategy is needed. In teaching and learning process, especially in a school environment, teachers play an important role so that a learning strategy serves as a tool to improve learning. The research design used was CARcollaborating another teacherthat was set to 2 cycles. Based on the research findings of the implementation of 3M prose writing strategy in the first cycle, students who passed were by 50% of 18 students. In the second cycle, on the other hand, students who passed were about 89%. It means that there was 39% improvement from the first cycle. We can see that the implementation of 3M prose writing strategy can improve the sixth-grade students' prose writing proficiency at SD Negeri 8 Kilensari Panarukan Situbondo Academic Year of 2014/2015.

Writing is one of the four language skills that plays a very important role in the teaching of English since writing can really help the students learn a second language. Unfortunately, make a product of writing become problematic way since student does not know how to write well. Therefore, the students have master the step of writing process in order to get good writing such as prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. The aim of this descriptive qualitative research is to investigate the teaching of writing especially in students’ writing process in SMP and SMA. This data of research were taken from three schools in Malang: MAN 03 Malang, SMA Islam Nusantara, and SMP Wahid Hasyim with 3 teachers come from 3 classes of each school. The data were obtained through video, observation sheets, lesson plan, and interview, and analyzed by comparing and contrasting all the research instruments. The findings of this study interpret that treating the students by using writing process will improve students’ writing skill. The comparison between teaching of writing in SMP and SMA are different in giving the topic. Thus, collaborative writing in writing process has also a big part of the teaching writing. The Effects of Teaching Technique and Reading Habit towards Student’s Writing Skill at Junior High School in Serang

The purpose of this research is to know the interactive effects of teaching technique, peer evaluation and reading habit towards student"s writing skill at Junior High School in Serang. In this research, the researcher used KTSP as the curriculum of the eighth grade of Junior High School in Serang. The research methodology is experiment. The writer got the data by giving questionnaire, treatment, and test. According to ANOVA table, teaching technique got Sig. 0.000 < 0.05. It means that hypothesis null (Ho) is denied and hypothesis alternative (H1) is accepted. So, there is a significant effect of teaching technique towards student"s writing skill. And for reading habit result got Sig. 0.000 < 0.05. It means that hypothesis null (Ho) is denied and hypothesis alternative (H1) is accepted. So, there is a significant effect of reading habit towards student"s writing skill. While for the interactive effects of teaching technique and reading habit got Sig. is 0.607 > 0.05, it means that hypothesis null (Ho) is accepted and hypothesis alternative (H1) is denied. So, there are not any significant interactive effects of teaching technique and reading habit towards student"s writing skill.

AN ANALYSIS ON FACTORS INFLUENCING THE STUDENTS' WRITING SKILL

The problem of the research is factors that influencing the students' writing skill. This research was conducted at English Education Department FKIP Lancang Kuning University, Pekanbaru. Using Descriptive Research focusing on the second year students of class A consisting of twenty five students. This research tries to explain the factors influencing the improvement of the students' writing skill. The instruments of this research were observation, field notes, and interview. After analyzing the data, it was found that factors influence the improvement of the students' writing skill were material, media, classroom activities, classroom management, teacher's strategy, and teacher's approach. In conclusion, materials, media, classroom activities, classroom management, teacher's strategy, and teacher's approach are factors that influence the students' writing skill.

The Student’s Learning Style and Their Writing Skill at SMK Tiara Aksara

Writing is an activity that not only need physical act but also mental act. Students can put their statements, idea and opinion in composing writing. Moreover, students learn with visually, auditory and kinesthetic. Students with multi learning style usually better in learning and understand lessons, particularly in writing. Due to the statement, this study is aimed to find out the correlation between students’ learning style and their writing skill. This study use survey quantitative method and analyze the data by using statitisctical hypotheses. Based on the data analysis, it was found that student’s learning style was not normally distributed, whereas the data of writing test was normally distributed. The Effectivenes of Teaching Writing Procedure Text by Using Demonstration Method at Seventh Grade of MTS Darussalam Getung Turi Lamonganin Academic Year 2017/2018

In learning English as a foreign language, the students should master four basic skills in English, namely: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Writing is one of the four basic skills that the students should be master. It is important element in teaching learning process. There are many techniques or methods that could be used to teach writing English. One of the methods is demonstration method. Students learn to write procedure text by using demonstration method. It was believed that the techniques could help the student in teaching writing by using demonstration method it could give stimulus students to improve writing. This research design is an experimental research. This research is conducted in the MTs Darussalam Getung Turi Lamongan. The population of this research is the seventh grade students. The samples are students in A and B class with simple purposive sampling. The total is 56 students. The researcher used quasi-experimental design. The result of t-test calculation is 17,70 and t-table 2,05 at significant level 0,05 with db 28. It means that calculation of t-test is higher than t-table. So, it is significant. From the result above, it can be concluded that there is significant effect of demonstration method in writing procedure text of seventh year students of MTs Darussalam Getung Turi Lamongan in academic year 2017/2018. It can be shown through the academic achievement of students in MTs Darussalam Getung Turi Lamongan.
