Simulation of Imagined Realities: Environmental Design Decision Support Tools in Architecture (original) (raw)
The research investigates the underutilization of environmental design decision support tools (EDDSTs) by architecture practitioners, identifying a crucial demand for Quality Assurance (QA) measures to enhance user trust and effectiveness. Despite failing to develop new EDDSTs, the study highlights the importance of incorporating QA procedures within these tools to ensure reliable performance predictions and relevant qualitative information. A proposed internet-based Simulation Quality Assurance (SimQA) approach would provide a centralized database for evaluated design tools, offering architects access to successful precedents and performance data necessary for informed decision-making in building design.
