New Methods in the Synthesis of (Meth)Acrylates
Organic Polymers, 2020
Generally, the words "reactive polymers" and "functional polymers" mean the same thing and are used interchangeably in most studies and describe cross-linked (insoluble) bead-structured resins containing chemically reactive functional groups. In this way, reactive polymers are widely used as polymeric reagents or polymer supports in biochemical and chemical applications. Functional (meth) acrylates referred here to supply "functional esters" ruins as a general reactive group precursor. In other sense, the leaving (activating) groups of these monomers may easily react with the alcohols and amines carrying the desired reactive groups and therefore, in general, provide a single reaction step for the synthesis of reactive polymers. In this paper, we suggest new routes for a new (meth)acrylate-based monomers and polymers. Also, the synthesis of a serial new (meth)acrylate esters including amide, dioxolane, benzofuran, and chalcone groups is described.

Properties and Applications of Acrylates
Acrylate Polymers for Advanced Applications
Acrylates are the esters, salts and conjugate bases of acrylic acid with its derivatives. They are made from acrylate monomer, which usually comprises of esters which contains vinyl groups, that is two carbon atoms that are double-bonded to each other, and directly attached to the carbonyl carbon of the ester group. Acrylates possess very diverse characteristic properties ranging from super-absorbency, transparency, flexibility, toughness and hardness, among others. These kinds of materials are used in sundry applications such as diapers, cosmetics, orthopedics, paints and coatings, adhesives, textiles, and many biomedical applications such as contact lenses and bone cements. This book chapter highlights the characteristic properties and applications of acrylates, its derivatives and copolymers.
Process Design and Simulation of an Acrylic Acid Production Process
Acrylic acid (AA) is used as a precursor for a wide variety of chemicals in the polymers and textile industries. There are several chemical pathways to produce AA, but the most common one is via the partial oxidation of propylene. The usual mechanism for producing AA utilizes a two-step process in which propylene is first oxidized to acrolein and then further oxidized to AA. Each reaction step usually takes place over a separate catalyst and at different operating conditions.
