ВЕРБАЛІЗАЦІЯ КОНЦЕПТУ ʽДОЛЯʼ У ПОЕЗІЇ ЛЕСІ УКРАЇНКИ

The article analyzes the means of verbalizing the concept of ʽfateʽ in Lesia Ukrainka's poetry. This concept, by which we mean the information structure of consciousness containing a set of knowledge about the object of cognition, is one of the most important in human consciousness and culture, as it plays an important role in the system of worldview and determines the general perception and understanding of the world, as well as the place of man in it. The present shows that the question of fate remains as relevant as ever. Looking at the history of Ukraine through the prism of Lesya Ukrainka's life, a striking similarity immediately strikes the eye: in both cases, fate is complex, often full of pain and suffering. However, where there is pain, there is often a struggle, and that is why this is the story of a strong-minded nation and its individual representative, for whom life's difficulties become not the «end of the drama» but a catalyst for showing courage, resilience and the power to «laugh so as not to cry». Based on this, the writer's difficult life path makes it possible to fully explore the diverse and often even antonymous hypostases of this concept. Thus, in the author's works, ʽfateʾ appears in the sense of ʽhappinessʾ, which, according to folk beliefs, must often be sought by making efforts and overcoming life's troubles; manifestation of God's will: fate depends on a higher spiritual being, on the will of God, and this is where the sacredness of this concept comes in; misfortune and disadvantage, when fate becomes a symbol of misfortune, a kind of fate. The concept of ʽfateʽ also appears in the sense of a connection with life, that is, for Lesya Ukrainka, fate personified life itself. Thus, the analysis of three collections of poems illustrates the verbalizers by which the poetess represents the concept of fate and proves that it has been and remains an important element of Ukrainian ethnoculture, as it indirectly reflects such national character traits as endurance, patience, and the ability to endure life's trials.
