Abstract
Summary Intergenerational learning is regarded as a key issue to cope with demographic change and to enhance intergenerational solidarity. Multi generation centers are supposed to encourage intergenerational practice and create opportunities for different generations to encounter, communicate and learn from each other. In this essay we analyze intergenerational learning in multi generation centers. Therefore we fi rst address the theory of intergenerational learning as well as general characteristics of the action program multi generation centers promoted by the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. After this we present a subset of results of the formative evaluation of the action program and analyze these with regard to the theoretical implications of intergenerational learning. Finally we describe the continuation and development of the program.
