An Intelligent Online Vehicle Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
This paper aims at designing an intelligent online tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The objective of this work is to display the tyre pressure of the tyre and also give the indication about the quality. The data corresponding to the tyre pressure is obtained with a high precision MEMS pressure sensor. The output of the MEMS pressure sensor is amplified and transmitted to the processing unit placed on the dash of the vehicle using wireless communication (RF). The processing is carried on using fuzzy logic algorithms on LabVIEW platform. The output pressure is displayed along with the indicator representing the quality. Indicator is green when the tyre pressure is in the desired range specified by the manufacturer. Yellow when the pressure has dropped and need to be inflated. Red indicates tyre pressure is below the safety driving conditions. After testing and validating the entire system using LabVIEW. The entire code is converted to verilog code and dumped on to FPGA chip (Spartan 3E) using FPGA module of LabVIEW with CompactRIO, for implementation of FPGA chip on real time system. The system after implementing on real time system measured actual pressure of tyre online.
Automated tyre pressure monitoring and regulating system
Accurate tyre pressure is a feature that gives us the advantage of higher fuel savings, and better control of the vehicle The proposed system is designed to refill the tyre pressure even when the vehicle is in motion. In an event of a puncture the tyre pressure is still maintained at the set point until the user takes the vehicle to the repair station. The heart of the system is a combination of pistons which act together to refill the tyre. Temperature compensated pressure sensor keeps a constant vigil on the value of the tyre pressure. Separate mechanisms are included to refill and also to reduce the pressure. Thus this system allows the user to modify the set point of the tyre pressure which would prove necessary when the number of people in the vehicle change or there is a change in the type of the road in which the vehicle traverses. This system is implemented in a tyre with real time variables. This paper deals with the technology and the results of the proposed system Keywords-tyre pressure regulation, Green technology, Driver assistance and control system, Vehicle control, vehicular sensor
Design of Tire Pressure Monitoring System Using a Pressure Sensor Base
SINERGI, 2019
Currently, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) only monitors the condition of a tire pressure. However, there are no particular reactions taking place after the value of its tire pressure is discovered. In fact, the value of a tire pressure determines driving comfort and safety Therefore, this research proposed a method to integrate a TPMS and a Pressure Sensor Base (PSB) with a particular reaction required to fulfill tires automatically. The proposed TPMS has an electronic device unit directly attached to a tire’s valve. This unit includes pressure sensors, microcontrollers, Bluetooth transmitters and batteries. An alert system is generated whenever tire pressure exceeds the maximum or minimum safe pressure level. Moreover, if the pressure measured is below the lowest level of the desired pressure, it will automatically activate the compressor. Several experiments have been carried out to analyze the proposed system. The integrated TPMS has proven to be able to be an alterna...
Tire is the most essential part of automobile and it plays crucial role in ensuring safe driving. Even then, almost every automobile on the road run with either one or more under inflated tires. Detailed survey has come with result that drop in tire pressure by just few psi leads to the reduction in gas mileage, tire life ,safe driving and vehicle performance. Unawareness of exact pressure requirement, sudden environmental changes are also some of causes for tire running with improper pressure. Automatic tire pressure controlling and self-inflating system ensures correct pressure in the tire all the time. Drop in pressure is detected by hissing sound made by tire and system will starts refilling the tire automatically according to the requirement of the tire. This system is named automatic because it checks the tire pressure constantly using pressure gauge and accordingly gives alert signals to the driver. Aim of this project is to stabilize all automobile tires with ideal pressure, make system absolutely automatic, achieve satisfactory fuel efficiency, construct an affordable system, increase tire life and reduce accident rate has been achieved by installing the system in vehicle.

Engineering of Tire Pressure Controlling Device: An Invention Towards Successful Product Development
Tire pressure plays an important role in ensuring safe and economical driving. Even then, many vehicles with under inflated tires are observed to be on the road due to the unawareness of the fact that properly inflated tires can safe tire life up to 20% which is nine months more of its life span. It can also save fuel from 4% to 10%, increase braking efficiency up to 20%, lightens steering system and ease self steer. Improper maintenance and operation failure of air pressure kiosks are the main reason why users seldom inflate their tires at the gas stations. Besides that, long awaiting queue at the kiosk and not knowing the exactly required tire pressure of their own vehicle is another cause for tires running with improper pressure. Therefore, a method of how to ease the users to inflate their tires is engineered and invented. Automatic Tire Pressure Controller (ATPC) has been idealized to ensure correct pressure is inflated into the tires regardless of the setting on the pressure source: e.g. kiosk, compressor, foot inflator, etc. The device will alert the user upon reaching the appropriate pressure by a hissing sound. This product attracts many users especially ladies who often being the second driver who are always unsure of the pressure of their tires.
Automatic Tyre Inflation System
2014
This project aims to develop and fabrication of an automatic tyre inflating system, this system ensures that tyres are properly inflated at all times. Roads are the most important modes of transport, now a days cars are integral part of it. Tyres lose air through normal driving-especially when run through pot holes and permeation. Considering today's ever increasing environmental threats; oil price hikes and energy consumption our system is most compatible and potential improvement in gas mileage and tyre wear reduction which leads to an increase in performance of tyre in diverse conditions. Moreover temperature changes are also one of the reason due to which tyres lose air. Thus vehicles run with an under-inflated tyre which may cause accidents. Studies show that a drop in tyre pressure by just a few PSI, can result in the reduction of gas mileage, tyre life, safety, and vehicle performance. The project aims to restore the tyre pressure on vehicles so that they are kept at optimum pressure levels, thus extending their life time at the same time saving the owner from fuel costs and maintenance cost incurred with underinflated tyres. The results of this study show that the introduction of the constant supervision of the pressure in the tires (TPMS system) should be supported for a large number of light commercial vehicles and heavy transport vehicles.
Method for Tyre Pressure Monitoring
This method presents vibration based continuous tyre monitoring system using the machine learning approach. It is important for the driver to know as soon as the tyre is punctured in order to prevent the rim and the treads of the tyre from extreme damage. This study provides an insight to tyre pressure monitoring using vibration analysis. The model for fault diagnosis uses the concept that the vibration signals in case of normal and punctured tyre have characteristic differences and thus can be used for indirect monitoring of tyre pressure. Statistical features are extracted from these signals and then feature selection is carried out in order to select the best features for feature classification. Feature classification is carried out using the Simple Logistic function is used as the classifier. The data model thus built helps to distinguish between vibration signals from a normal tyre and a punctured tyre.
