Soft Skills, Their Development and Mastering Among University Trainers

The article deals with the issues of the content, assessment of the current state and the main tendencies in the development of the so-called "soft skills". At present soft skills are essential to have good job opportunities and university curriculum should be focused on developing and mastering them. The article analyses the results of the research of the soft skills development among post graduate students majoring in Professional Education of Alfred Nobel University, Dnipro. These data prove that postgraduate students realize the importance of mastering soft skills to make a successful career. Moreover, innovative teaching methods and techniques aimed at mastering soft skills are to be introduced into the educational process.

Nowadays, as a result of economic changes, employers are eager to look for employees with applied skills rather than cognitive skills. Diplomas are not being considered as a definitive indicator of students' professional intelligence as it used to be before. Fourth Industry Revolution has dramatically changed labor market and knowledge is now acknowledged as strength of productivity and economic growth, and information technology has acquired great importance. In such a situation, whether employees start their career or change a job, they can show successful performance, if they can change and update themselves continuously, build positive interpersonal relationships in the workplace, learn and win in the unpredictable challenges of the work place. Accordingly, today the graduates of Higher Education need to master not only professional skills of their job, but also various soft skills, including the ability to communicate, coordinate, work under pressure, and solve problems. The purpose of this article is to provide literature on the connection of soft skills with employability and world labour market, the role of soft skills in career success for future professionals. The article also examines the definition and selection of the most demanding soft skills from the perspective of different literature. The role of Higher Education in forming and developing soft skills will then be discussed. The article illustrates the results of survey carried out with the aim to analyze the degree of integration of soft skills in Study Skills program that is taught for bachelor students in Uzbek State World Languages University and academic curricula.
A Study Exploring Soft Skills in Higher Education

There is a need for improved skills development within the UK’s Higher Education Institutions (HEI) stemming from the disconnect between the expectations of employers of the skills graduates have and the skills graduates have gained during their degree. It is well-known now that there is a clear skills gap. The present study aims to explore the effect of graduates and students' perception of skills development in HEI in the UK. A total of 420 participants completed an online survey to explore their perception as well as their confidence of skills development by rating each skill on a Likert scale. The paper discusses the results in light of pedagogical strategies developed to teach soft skills in HE. The paper concludes with recommendations for teaching practice.

Fundamental changes in the educational paradigm of the Ukrainian education modern system have led to a revision of the process of improving the university students’ professional training. Theoretical and Methodological Analysis of the Formation of “Soft-skills” in Higher Education Students of Pedagogical Specialties of Higher Education Institutions of Ukraine , 2023
The purpose of the study is to carry out a theoretical and methodological analysis of the formation of “soft-skills” in higher education students of pedagogical specialties of higher education institutions of Ukraine. The study is based on system analysis, forecasting methods, comparative analysis, specification, and the study of modern legislative materials. The results highlight the interpretation and differences in the theoretical foundations of hard skills and soft skills. Attention is also drawn to the peculiarities of soft skills of applicants for higher pedagogical education in Ukraine. It is crucial to incorporate the "Six Thinking Hats" methodology, which encourages the development of independent problem-solving skills by approaching challenges through the lens of one mental action at a time. Implementing this approach necessitates significant student engagement. In Ukraine, teacher motivation represents a multifaceted element within the teacher training system. Additionally, outdated training methods pose another challenge that needs to be addressed. The conclusions emphasize innovative approaches to understanding the conditions for the development of soft skills, as well as the need to take into account the materials of state control bodies as sources for an objective analysis of the situation.

Soft Skills In Practice And In Education: An Evaluation

The paper measures the soft skills needs of companies and industry to technical oriented academic graduates, especially coming from IT course programs like business informatics, computer science, or information management. Therefore, between March and September 2010, two groups of researchers at the University of Applied Sciences (UAS) Technikum Vienna analyzed job profiles and the intended denotation of certain keywords. Primarily, one group worked on the statistical content analysis of job offers which could be found in Austrian newspapers or were provided by online job platforms. The other group developed a survey to be sent to several companies in Austria and was addressed to human resources departments. The paper explains the evaluation results in details and discusses its necessary implication on academic curriculum design.
Developing Undergraduates’ Soft Skills: An Investigation of the Status Quo and the Challenges

This study aimed at investigating the undergraduates' soft skills in a private HE institute in Lebanon from various perspectives. The study adopted a mixedmethod approach for collecting and analyzing the data. Two different surveys, compiling major features of incorporating soft skills into USAL's study programs, were administered. 108 undergraduates and 23 instructors from different majors competed the surveys. A focus group interview was conducted for student affairs office personnel (SAO) to examine its role in developing undergraduates' soft skills. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 while qualitative data were classified into themes and analyzed against the quantitative data and USAL's policy and regulations. Findings indicate, from a triangulated perspective, that USAL's undergraduates have revealed an average level of soft skills although they admit their significant importance for employability and career advancement. In addition, USAL's role in developing undergraduates' soft skills appears satisfactory with respect to the curriculum, the instructors' responsibilities and conducts, and SAO liabilities. Challenges impeding the process of integrating soft skills are pinpointed and discussed. Recommendations for the betterment of investing soft skills within USAL' context, policy and practice, are shared.
