Dandruff called Huzaz/Abria in Unani medicine is a common ailment in the world with easy options of treatment. Most of the treatment options have ignored the cosmetic aspect of hair. Unani medicine has got a vast array of drug formulation to evaluate the efficacy of Unani pharmacopoeal formulation in mild form of seborrhic dermatitis of scalp (dandruff). Its efficacy was compared with standard drug (2% ketakonazole shampoo). Patients were enrolled after ethical clearance and informed consent in the study. 30 patients were treated with Unani formulation and 20 patients with the standard drug. The assessment of various parameters like Itching, Scalp shedding, Erythema, Hair frizz, Hair combing ease, and Hair smoothness was made before and after 30 days. Formulation and evaluation of anti-dandruff polyherbal powder shampoo

Dandruff is a common disorder affecting the scalp condition caused by yeast Pityrosporum. Dandruff cannot be completely eliminated but can only be managed and effectively controlled. Shampoo is a hair care product used for the removal of oils, dirt, skin particles, dandruff, environmental pollutants and other contaminant particles that gradually build up in hair. Herbal anti-dandruff shampoos were formulated using herbal based ingredients like Lemon Grass Oil, Neem oil, Henna, Aloe Vera gel and other ingredients for preparing base shampoo. The formulated shampoos were subjected to evaluation parameters like visual inspection, pH, viscosity, Percentage of solids contents, Dirt dispersion, Surface tension, Foaming ability and foam stability. The main objective of this study was to eliminate harmful synthetic ingredient from anti-dandruff shampoo formulation and substitute them with a safe natural ingredients.

Dandruff is a skin condition with symptoms includes flaking and sometimes mild itchiness cause to the scalp. There are many bacteria, fungus causing scalp infections which leads to further hair problem. Malassezia furfur is considered to be the cause of dandruff. Dandruff may also be caused by changes in humidity, trauma, seasonal changes or emotional stress. There is one of the common condition dandruff. Herbal extract of neem, amla, aloe vera, tulsi, onion, tea and hibiscus found to be effective in treating dandruff. Neem powder shows antibacterial and antifungal activity on gram positive and gram negative bacteria. Vitamin C in amla which is 20 times more than that of orange prevents premature graying of hairs. Aloe vera nourishes the hairs, hibiscus provides luster to hairs. Tea act as an antioxidant, tulsi is also antibacterial in nature. Onion is used for hair growth and to strengthen the follicle. Gel formulation was prepared using xanthan gum, glycerin. The evaluation tests were performed which include tests for stability, physical and chemical properties.

Background: Dandruff is a major problem of hair, which cannot be fully cured with the aid of chemicals. An attempt has been made to prepare a poly-herbal anti-dandruff hair care formulation and it is standardized to ensure its stability and quality aspects. Objective: The present work is oriented at the synthesis of herbal anti-dandruff hair formulation and the estimation of its various aspects for its valuability. Materials and Methods: The herbal preparation was prepared in the laboratory, on the basis of decided proportion, with the help of all the herbal contents. The pack was gauged for its various parameters. Results: The results were concluded to be sufficiently ample for the assessment of herbal formulation. Introduction: Dandruff is a commonly found hair problem affecting all age groups with high recurrence and is considered a social stigma. In Ayurved it is compared with Darunak falling under the category of kshudrarogadhikar and is caused due to the vitiation of vaat and kapha. Traditionally the treatment comprises of application of oil, steaming, applying packs, washing of hair etc. According to modern science dandruff is a non-treatable disease condition which is prevented by use of anti-dandruff shampoos, creams and hair masks. The available products are expensive and results are not very satisfactory and recurrence is common.
