As more project teams are formed to help Malaysian organizations in achieving their objectives that individual efforts cannot achieve, there is a compelling reason to understand the critical factors that can influence project team effectiveness, because the effectiveness outcome can yield benefits to organizations. This study developed a research model underpinned on Cohen & Bailey’s (1997) Team Effectiveness Framework to empirically analyze some critical factors that influence project team effectiveness. Results show that project manager’s leadership roles are not directly influencing project team effectiveness, but they are directly influencing both team building & participation, and team shared mental models in which these two factors are directly and positively influencing project team effectiveness.

Purpose and Originality: The purpose of the study is to analyse the throughput of projects in project portfolios that share common resources. The study is focused on demonstrating drawbacks of traditional practices of managing project portfolio, while on the other hand showing sequential improvement steps how to ignificantly improve project portfolio throughputs. Notably, this study presents the benefits by changing policies and rules on how project tasks are planned, queued, and scheduled in such an environment. Impact of Project Teamwork on Project Success in Pakistan

The contribution of project teamwork is based on project members toward project success has remained unattended in prior literature. This paper highlights the importance of project teamwork for the project success and argues that leader alone cannot successfully complete a project. This study is based upon Higher Education Commission (HEC)'s projects in Pakistan and data has been collected from project leaders regarding performance and contribution of project teamwork toward project success. The study hypothesized the positive and direct relationship between the project teamwork and project success. For the purpose of verification of this relationship the project managers were requested through e-mail to complete questionnaires. Further, this relationship is verified theoretically and empirically by applying Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). It is concluded on the basis of results that project team work has positive and direct relationship with project success. The study findings will be helpful for policy makers and project team leaders to understand the importance and contribution of project teamwork toward achieving project success especially in developing countries.

It is recognized by researchers that project managers behaviors can impact and influence project team to deliver innovation due to the consequences and output of innovation to the organisations. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the critical attitudes that project managers show which affect the team effectiveness and abilities to promote innovative ideas, solutions and enactments to their current workplace. The research is based on studying recent literature reviews, to critique the actual factors of project managers’ behaviors, evaluate team players impact and then review the innovation results. Besides, this paper has a conceptual framework to identify the relevant attitudes of project manager’s (PM’s) behaviors and their relationship to team’s effectiveness and innovativeness. The conceptual framework is linked to current two case studies which are IT projects in the United Arab Emirates banking sector. Being in the Information Technology field and projects community inforce organisations to be innovative, effective and successful to carry forward project with outstanding results. Furthermore, the benefits of delivering a successful project is improve products and services Rogers (1995), enhance project environments and boost development Slaughter (1998). Therefore, it is essential to highlight the required qualities which team leaders should practice to accelerate employees’ innovation to gain the maximum benefits. PMs Behavior’s that impact project team to deliver innovation are inspirational, charismatic, idealized behavior and attributes and intellectual stimulation. Besides, champions can influence tactics, build network, take risks to enable project team innovate and function effectively. During projects phase’s, champions encounter various challenges along with the project team. Therefore PMs should react confidently to persist under adversity, take the right authority and demonstrate the team responsibilities to overcome any barriers during initiatives process implementation. The main purpose of project team and champion role is to deliver and pursue the innovative ideas with structured problem solving strategies and decision making approaches. Today, more and more project teams are formed to achieve organizational objectives as organizations generally recognized the importance and benefits of project teams. However, in order to ensure project teams perform effectively, project managers need to learn and exhibit some of the leadership roles proposed by Quinn (1988) as these roles can impact the project team effectiveness. The current study developed a research model underpinned on Cohen and Bailey (1997) team effectiveness framework, Quinn (1988) leadership roles and Hoevemeyer (1993) five criteria of project team effectiveness. Based on a sample of 201 project managers, an empirical study had confirmed that a project manager’s leadership roles like mentor, facilitator, innovator and coordinator are important in influencing four out of five criteria of project team effectiveness which include team mission, goal achievement, empowerment, open and honest communication.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND TEAM PERFORMANCE: AN APPLIED TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP PERSPECTIVE

Purpose: This study tends to examine the influence of transformational leadership on project project and team performance specifically employee empowerment, employee stimulation, and project efficiency and effectiveness. Design/methodology/approach: The study is underpinned by a quantitative methodology and deductive reasoning. A questionnaire was employed. Purposive sampling was used and a sample of 288 individuals was obtained. Findings: Transformational leadership has a positive impact on project management and team performance. Implications: Fostering a nurturing environment led by managers is crucial, enabling employees to freely express themselves, exhibit proactivity, and experience respect. Encouraging transparent communication concerning individual objectives and responsibilities is highly recommended. Practical implications: From a pragmatic standpoint, the study was structured around the validation of three hypotheses. The results have substantiated a favorable association between leadership and the empowerment of employees, the stimulation of employees, as well as the efficiency and effectiveness of projects. Originality/value: The synthesis of existing literature implies that effective team management significantly shapes project performance and, by extension, the holistic performance of organizations. This shift is underscored by a transition from traditional hierarchical frameworks to team-centric structures that foster performance-friendly settings. Within this context, the pivotal roles of leadership and employee empowerment have emerged as indispensable drivers. To put it succinctly, while evaluating project success, managers should prioritize quantifiable metrics like costs, schedules, and scope. Concurrently, they should cultivate a profound comprehension of the multifaceted influences that intricately intersect with project endeavors.
Teams and Project Performance: An Ability, Motivation, and Opportunity Approach

This article analyzes the relationships between project performance and the team’s ability, motivation, and opportunity (AMO). We contribute to the project management literature by exploring which combinations of AMO factors are best for project performance at different levels of complexity. We test our hypotheses on a sample of 285 projects. Our study shows that in simple projects, ability is the key factor both as a main effect and as a constraining factor that acts as a bottleneck for project performance. In the case of complex projects, the multiplicative model is superior given the significant interaction effects of motivation.
