Religious Travel to Sheikh Quro’s Tomb, Karawang, West Java

The tomb of Sheikh Quro Karawang attracts many visitors for religious tourism. The visitors, called pilgrims in the context of this study, have different motivations or purposes and reasons. This study aims to determine the motivation of the pilgrims to conduct religious tourism to the Tomb of Sheikh Quro. To do this, descriptive survey research is undertaken in association with quantitative methods. The data were collected using questionnaires and observation in addition to the study of documentation, and expert interviews. The study results reveal that various motives encourage pilgrims to come to this region, this includes both religious and traditional motives: seeking blessings; achieving desired outcomes; motives related to warding off misfortune and distress, and; motivations related to obtaining supernatural powers. Travellers perform unique rituals, praying by using offerings and sacred water. In conclusion, it was found that the pilgrims who visit the tomb of Sheikh Quro have a range of different motivations and these are attached to their purposes and reasons.

Motivation of Visitors to the Tomb Area of K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) in Cukir Village, Diwek District, Jombang Regency

ABSTRACT : The diversity of tourist destinations in Indonesiais not onlynatural, historical, cultural and culinary, but religioustourismisalsodevelopingverywell in Indonesia. One of the provinces that has manyreligioustourist attractions is the province of East Java. Religioustourism in East Java whichisverypopular, namely the Gus Dur Tomb Area, has the highestnumber of religioustourismvisitors in East Java in 2018. Currently, the condition of facilities and infrastructure isvery good with the existence of the K.H. museum. HasyimAsh'ari, gardens, culinary stands. Withthesefacilities and infrastructure, thereis a shift in the motivation of visitorswho come there, whoused to go there for pilgrimages, but nowmanyvisitors come to Gus Dur's Tomb Area to relax and to exercise. This studyintends to determine the characteristics and motivations of visitorswho come to the Gus Dur Tomb Area sothatthisresearch can be a reference for future destination development.This study uses a qualitative descriptive methodwith a sample of 123 respondents. The researchfindings show the characteristics of thosewhovisit Gus Dur'stomb area, namely the youngergenerationwho have the motivation to visit the Gus Dur'stomb area to relax, makepilgrimages and there are alsosomevisitorswho do research and study tours. IMPACT OF PILGRIMAGE TOURISM TO THE SHEIKH QURO'S TOMB KARAWANG ON THE LOCAL COMMUNITY QUALITY OF LIFE

The pilgrimage tour of Syekh Quro is the religious tour in Karawang located in Pulobata, Pulokalapa village, Lemahabang Wadas district, Karawang regency, West Java Province. This research is aimed to identify the impact of the religious tour activity of Syekh Quro's Tomb toward local society quality of life. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The finding showed that the tourism impact toward local society quality of life clarifies that pilgrimage tourism gives a positive impact on Pulobata communities. These positive impacts are seen in the aspects of material wellbeing, community wellbeing, emotional wellbeing, and health and safety wellbeing.

Reading Anomaly of Tourist Satisfaction in Pilgrimage Tourist Destination of Sunan Muria Tomb, Kudus, Central Java

Satisfaction of tourists is the key success for tourism destination sustainability because it is a reason for tourists to return to the destination. This research wanted to see the anomaly at Sunan Muria Tomb, Kudus, Central Java related to the satisfaction of tourists on the limited accessibility which is one of the four components that must be owned by a tourist destination according to Cooper, et.al. Tomb of Habib Husein bin Abu Bakar Alaydrus is one of the spiritual tourism destinations visited by many tourists, both local and foreign tourists. The number of tourists who come to the tomb of the Luar Batang approximately is 10,000 pilgrims every week. Pilgrims who come are not only Muslims but also non-Muslims. Generally, non-Muslim visitors enter from the side of the Luar Batang Mosque. This article is trying to review the motives of visitors who visit Luar Batang tomb based on observations and interviews with visitors from all folks of life. The results of this study are the mapping of the motives of visitors in doing a pilgrimage tour so that it can be analyzed and developed by other religious tourism destinations.

This article aims to criticize the development of religious tourism which tends to create economic-oriented goals and neglect the sacredness of both religious sites and rituals. Developing Tomb-Based Religious Tourism: Creating Inter-Cultural Communication Competence in Central Tapanuli Regency

The development of tomb-based religious tourism has not been maximally implemented by the regional government of Central Tapanuli Regency (CTR) although there are the diverse culture of visitors who travel to Mahligai and Papan Tinggi tombs and their visits have implications for them to be able to communicate with tourism conscious groups, with management, and with tomb guards. This paper is aimed at describing the development of tomb-based religious tourism, and at creating competency and model for inter-cultural communication in CTR. This paper is qualitative and descriptive, involving the 28 research subjects, such as individual visitor, tourism conscious groups, coastal culture observers, tomb management and guards. The research objects were focused on the verbal and non verbal symbols which were collected by interviews, observation, and document searches; moreover, the data analysis technique involved inductive approach with the data validity used triangulation. It is concluded that the two tombs received little attention from local governments and the management was less professional but the interaction among visitors, tourism conscious groups, management, and guards, who have different cultural identities, results in relational identity with similar meaning, and forms dynamic social relations; they also have adequate experience, knowledge, positive motivation, attitudes, values, abilities, and skills in communication. The visitors' inter-cultural communication competency with tourism conscious groups, management, and tomb guards about the verbal and non verbal messages have been in accordance with the principles of communication intelligence in Islamic perspectives; so, the model for the inter-cultural communication competency is based on Islam.

Visit the Tomb of Ki Marogan: Preservation of Religious Tradition in Muslim Malay Community

The custom of some Palembang Malay Muslim communities to visit the tomb of Ki Marogan is a religious tradition that has lasted for years. This study wants to see what are the motives behind the Palembang Muslim community to maintain this tradition and how their perceptions of these pilgrimage habits. This paper examines how pesugihan (seeking wealth through spirit assistance) contests with pilgrimage discourse ideologically. In specific, to trace more about the grounds of the rise of contrary assumption of the pesugihan, this study focusses on how the ideological view, as the essential thinking of people, develops identity, practice, and its spirituality matter. The identity is constructed from the single view in responding to the phenomena and creating a sameness of collective joy created into the group, as Edith Turner examines about communitas and false communitas to see how the contestation is crystallized.
